I LOVE that woman. When our enemies don't agree to any rules of WAR, why should we? Terrorists are not uniformed military troops, fighting for a common goal of protecting their country. They're insane people trying to destabilize the world and cause chaos. Their lives are only worth whatever information we can suck out of them, in order to fry bigger fish. I don't believe in human rights for people who don't act as humans.

 

Maybe if she broke the law, and lied about it to everyone in the country a few hundred times, maybe democrats would like her better....

 

Apparently, the CIA didn't even try to get it right. There were a lot of innocent people imprisoned and tortured. How would you feel if you were water-boarded just because some foreign government didn't bother with due diligence?

In May 2013, the Washington Post’s Greg Miller reported that the head of the CIA’s clandestine service was being shifted out of that position as a result of “a management shake-up” by then-Director John Brennan. As Miller documented, this official — whom the paper did not name because she was a covert agent at the time — was centrally involved in the worst abuses of the CIA’s Bush-era torture regime.

As Miller put it, she was “directly involved in its controversial interrogation program” and had an “extensive role” in torturing detainees. Even more troubling, she “had run a secret prison in Thailand” — part of the CIA’s network of “black sites” — “where two detainees were subjected to waterboarding and other harsh techniques.” The Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on torture also detailed the central role she played in the particularly gruesome torture of detainee Abu Zubaydah.

Beyond all that, she played a vital role in the destruction of interrogation videotapes that showed the torture of detainees both at the black site she ran and other secret agency locations. The concealment of those interrogation tapes, which violated multiple court orders as well as the demands of the 9/11 commission and the advice of White House lawyers, was condemned as “obstruction” by commission chairs Lee Hamilton and Thomas Keane. A special prosecutor and grand jury investigated those actions but ultimately chose not to prosecute.

The name of that CIA official whose torture activities the Post described is Gina Haspel. Today, as BuzzFeed’s Jason Leopold noted, CIA Director Mike Pompeo announced that Haspel was selected by Trump to be deputy director of the CIA.

What loophole? U.S. courts have no more jurisdiction in Afghanistan than Martian courts do on the moon.

 

The entire world saw what we did. Just like they saw us save our economic system with socialism for the aristocracy on the backs of the people.

 

Saving American lives is non negotiable. Any means used to that end against individuals nonsignatory to the Geneva Conventions is not only acceptable, but is in fact a moral imperative.

 

Extra-legality never bothered the US before. Shame on you for hypocritically hiding your ideals behind some such minor technicality of this kind.

 

You act as if we’re the only country with an intelligence agency.

 

It sounds as if you're comparing her to Donald Trump. His law-breaking (repeated fraud) and lies have not endeared him to Democrats.

 

That bullshit about "saving american lives" stops as near as the second amendement. Another shooting in a school today. Thousands of American Lives are lost everyday to your utter indifference. Stop trying to sell me real estate on Mars - it's insulting. The truth is - you only care about some "American lives" and couldn't be bothered to look at the others.

In fact, more American lives are put at risks by this torture you defend with every fibre in your being, as what you committed disgust every normal human being on the planet, except maybe terrorists.
