I like how he threatened to "shut down" Twitter over this. Great to see the US government stand up to free speech and private property rights this way.... Trump makes hysterical SJW safe space tantrum toddlers seem stoic, hyper-masculine and dignified by comparison.

    Opinion is easily fact checked.

"Its my opinion that the color red causes aids"

That would be pretty easy to fact check.

they are a free site, Trump can choose not to use their free service if he wishes

the fact is, republicans States, including his own, use absentee ballots already, if Trump is against them, then he needs to go after republican states that already use them

heck, Trump himself voted by Absentee ballot in the last election

Trump fears if swing states allow absentee ballots, more will vote, and he knows most Americans do not support him

he is allowed to, no one stopping him, Trump is though trying to stop others from criticizing his opinions

Trump is violating the 1st Amendment by threatening to silence people via executive order if they do not stop fact checking him

Wait...so Captain Clorox is upset that he can't lie on Twitter? And he wants to use the force of government to allow him to do so?

    And "conservatives" support this?

It's OK for a President to express an opinion so long as that opinion is not completely asinine.

I share his opinion in this matter. That makes me asinine.

No, any President can express his opinion whether or not you think it is asinine. If it triggers you, go win an election.

You are entitled to express asinine opinions. The President is not! Because they are official statements.

Gonna laugh my ass off when Trump gets banned from Twitter or FB!!!

"we're sorry, but now that we no longer have liability protection, we had to ban Trump as his comments were dishonest and slanderous".

Actually, if Twitter were to simply adhere to its own AUP Trump's account along with Jrs would have been taken down 2 years ago.

This response is minimal but finally better than no response at all.

They didn't fact check opinion. They checked his claim that mail in voting caused voter fraud.

    He didn't phrase it as "I think...might"
    He phrased it as factual.

Since he claimed a fact, he can be fact-checked.

Why should fact checking a statement make a difference?

This action is socially responsible. As long as twitter fact checks all posts and marks them accordingly why should there be an issue?

Why would Trump not WELCOME being corrected when he's made a mistake?
Why would he not say "I was wrong and I apologize. Thanks for correcting me?"
And why would his supporters knowingly defend his spreading of false information?

Facts are, in fact, "Fair and Balanced."
Facts are not Republican or Democrat.
Facts are not liberal or Conservative.
    Facts are just facts.

So why are Trump and his supporters so afraid of the facts?
