Yes, Putin DOES benefit. He doesn't care if his own people face harsher living standards - he has demonstrated that himself. His "benefit" is two fold -
1 - settling scores against his enemies. He has a vindictive streak.
2 - warning others not to become his enemy.

Does England benefit? Doubt it. The Capitalists do well from Russia.
The people who want sanctions are people who take offense at Putin's ruthless antics - that obviously doesn't include yourself.

If you'd said 'killing' rather than 'injuring' him, it would have been the funniest thing I've read so far today.

Yes, we need more authentic news.
Have you read the North Korean news?
    http://www.korea-dpr.com/
"The DPRK is the Juche-oriented socialist state which embodies the idea and leadership of Comrade Kim II Sung, the founder of the Republic and the father of socialist Korea."

Wow. No CNN in Nth Korea!
    Nothing but the TRUTH

And have you tried reading an English version of the Chinese Communist newspaper?
    http://english.cpc.people.com.cn/

Wow!! No "sweet Food Network" there!!!!

And there's the Venezuelan papers, the Cuban papers and of course your friend Putin's papers!
(CNN claimed the Putin murdered independent journalists. One reporter was murdered for reporting the deaths of Russian soldiers... sorry volunteers... who were killed in Syria.
Wikipedia claimed Russia is "the third deadliest country in the world for journalists" since 1991)

All telling the TRUTH. NOT LIKE CNN.
At least, the Left's version of the Truth.

Um, excuse me but Wiki can be spontaneously edited by any Tom, Dick, or Harry with an agenda or some kind of gripe?

In my opinion the saying "If you want to find a criminal, ask yourself: who benefits?" is absolutely wrong.

Because a crime is, as a rule, committed by one party but there can be a lot of parties which could benefit from this crime - and among these parties can be some parites whose benefits are well hidden.

Therefore in my opinion - If you want to find a criminal, look for evidence pointing to this criminal (finger prints, pictures on CCTV cameras etc.) not for motives and benefits.

If your police is not able to find evidence pointing to a certain criminal, dismiss the chief of your police but do not try to punish somebody only because in your opinion "it was highly likely" that this somebody has committed this crime.

It is your police and you are responsible for its work.

'evidence'? Haven't you heard - that word has been erased from the English lexicon. I'd love for Putin to ask for evidence of the Skripal thang and then see what the British government says as the response to it. lol

State contrived logic has replaced evidence.

I wonder how many health care workers were contaminated by this "nerve agent". I bet none.

Apparently the Skripals were getting intensive care 'in an annex to the ICU department'. Make of that what you will?

If I recall correctly the only healthcare worker to die from something imported was under Obama and it was Ebola.

These nerve agents have very low volatility and remain in the contamination zone as oily residues for long periods of time. They absorbed quickly through the skin and are highly lethal. The ambulance workers arriving on the scene would have succumbed to the nerve agent long before they removed the victims

Russian oligarchs (read filthy Putin Capitalists) have invested a lot of money in the UK.
The British have done very well out of said oligarchs.
Putin's nerve gas, polonium, shootings and plain old strangulations of his enemies
has the potential to dent the oligarchs fascination with England. It won't dent Putin's
    vast wealth.

Yup... all invented by the Dastardly American Imperialist Capitalists and their Puppets and Running Dogs (you know, probably the same ones who feed, house and educate you, and give you the freedom to use this internet without censorship.)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_journalists_killed_in_Russia

Could these journalists have been killed by your Dastardly American Imperialist Capitalists and their Puppets and Running Dogs?
Someone must have killed them because they aren't around anymore.

IF PUTIN KILLS HIS OWN JOURNALISTS THEN IT'S NO BIG STEP TO KILL THOSE CONSIDERED TRAITORS TO MOTHER RUSSIA.

What about 'traitors' and other political miscreants who get gunned down in the streets of Washington, with names like er . . . Seth Rich? Or are you an 'America, right or wrong' kinda guy?

Never heard of the guy, but I did the Wiki on him
"Rich's parents condemned the conspiracy theorists and said that these individuals were exploiting their son's death for political gain, and their spokesperson called the conspiracy theorists "disgusting sociopaths"
    With references:

It's evidence enough if was the Filthy Capitalist Imperialists and their Puppets and Running Dogs.
One journalist who reported on the deaths of many Russian soldiers... sorry volunteers... in Syria was subsequently murdered upon his return to Russia. Maybe the filthy Capitalists did it, but more thoughtful souls would suspect Putin or his Militarist cronies.

Russians considered "traitors" (mostly enemies of Putin) wind up dead.
    Maybe the Americans murdered them?
    Yeah... right.

Its evidence enough when it is actually evidence .
Speculation is nice, but not evidence

How many people get shot in America? Am I right that it's about 100,000 with about 35,000 deaths?
Sooner or later someone with political connection is going to get it. If it's someone on the Left that becomes
grist for the conspiracy mill. If it's someone on the right then (like white policemen) "they had it coming."
