LOL! Dream on! The fact they had to cut it is winning. Now they can just leave the hole and grab folks as they come thru. Having zero obstacle is idiocy.

And you have not made a valid point here. To simply make a sarcastic post poo pooing the wall proves nothing.

Exactly. And now only the hardened criminal smugglers will try to get thru. The crowds of regular folks has dropped like a rock. That is called winning!

Likewise that you'll take an isolated incident as proof of ineffectiveness. How many illegals have you opened your home to? Not enough, that's how many.

They've just gone to new routes. It's the way it's always been. The only way to make desperate people stop coming to the US is to remove their source of desperation.

Not isolated. And now that it's been shown to work, you think others aren't going to follow their example? You're so cute.

And just because I think a wall is a waste of money DOESN'T mean I'm for illegal immigration or open borders. I just think that the only way to stop it is to remove the forces driving the immigration. We have to stop wasting our time and money in the Mid-East and start concentrating on building a cohesive plan for South and Central America.

Drones with Hellfire missiles would solve that problem and smugglers could go back to digging.
I would rather have medicare for all than throw more money down the South American rabbit hole. Money feeds corruption it does not cure it. Enforce the border, stop treating it like it isn't supposed to exist. Take care of poor people here at home.

Just stop. You'd support a physical barrier if you were opposed to illegal immigration. The wall is far more effective than not. We don't give a **** about progressive anti-Trump people who're willing to propagandize anything associated with him.

The wall works. More of it is going up. Hopefully across the entire border.

Agree though that a broader solution is needed. I support stripping manufacturing from China and sending it South.

The wall is a waste of money, it is easily defeated. You have fallen for moronic rhetoric if you think that opposing a dumb-assed wall that can be cut apart, sailed around, flown over and tunneled under is the same as advocating for open borders. That's a completely imbecilic argument on your part.

A physical barrier is part and parcel of a broader strategy. It's a neccessary piece of the puzzle.

It's an eye-sore, a propaganda piece, and a waste of money. Nothing more. In ten years, it will become a place for Taggers to put spray paint, and that will be it's only useful purpose.

I moved to San Diego in the early 80's. Back then there were swamps down in Imperial Beach, and we used to watch the Border Patrol chasing the illegal aliens through the swamps at night. It was a hoot...

It's already had holes cut in it, it's been climbed over, drone tech has rendered it useless for drug intervention and Taggers have begun painting on it ... it's not opinion, it's fact.

Isolated incidents, anecdotes. It's far more effective than not, hence more going up. If you opposed illegal immigration you'd have gratitude.

Not sure "getting along" will encourage cooperation. Sanctions and military force are usually a better "persuader".

WHAT? This makes absolutely no sense. Why would we want to "get along" with Mexico, our neighbor, when they BLATANTLY have made it clear they are not making efforts to stop the mass migrations to the US?

    Do you not remember 2016-2017?

This comment you made is incredibly odd to hear from you

In this case, it was the threat of tariffs (and having a President bold enough to use the threat, and determined enough to stand behind it.)

Mexico's continued support is in no way guaranteed.

All of these things are parts of the overall strategy to fix immigration/"asylum". No one thing is meant to solve the problem alone.

Mexico is currently helping us, thanks largely to Trump's threat of tariffs. Mexico is slowing/stopping the caravans at their southern border and turning them back, and they are housing the so-called "asylum seekers" on the Mexican side of the Mexico/USA border so we don't have to do it here in America. In fact, some left-leaning types have begun complaining that Mexico actually is paying for our border security because of the extra money they're spending on their own border security and to house our "asylum" seekers, and the money both of those actions are saving the United States.

Yep. An agreement they rejected back in 2016 which was my point. @mdrobster asked why we can't work well with them...that's why.

They only respond when they know how serious WE are. If we didn't do anything, they couldn't give two craps who walks across.

Again, the wall would have to be manned !!!!!

BTW, isn't the wall suppose to prevent people from getting into the USA, that is winning :)

Strong arm tactics with your neighbors is folly. If they just let all pass through, the task would become exponentially tougher.

So if Mexico drops the ball and let's everyone through, it will be that much more difficult. As the OP put it, Mexico added troops after talking with them, and less illegal immigration.
