    https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/24/politics/shutdown-wilbur-ross-lara-trump-larry-kudlow/index.html

We're two federal paychecks into the longest government shutdown in history and government workers are hurting. But key people in President Donald Trump's orbit have offered little in the way of comfort in recent days.

Get a loan, suggested Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary. It's just a "little bit of pain," said the President's daughter-in-law and campaign aide Lara Trump.
Ross' Commerce Department currently lacks funding and most of the more than 45,000 employees who work for him are facing down their second straight paycheck of $0.00.

All this for a wall that Americans don’t want.

Pelosi just took a 3 day weekend (with pay) and is leaving DC along with a lot of others. Say what you want, but these people certainly are not serious about ending the shut down, at all.

Pelosi and the Democrat-controlled House recently passed a funding bill (the 4th one since they took over), but McConnell blocked it and didn’t bring it to the Republican-controlled Senate floor for a vote.

The shutdown and the resulting suffering continues to be on Trump, McConnell, and the Republican Party.

NOPE! This is a Schumer shut down and they own it. They are intentionally putting American lives at risk by allowing illegals to flood into our country. Trump is right and has the upper hand as well as the moral high ground. Trump is working to protect the American people while Pelosi and Schumer are using illegals to get more votes.

    Schumer shut down 2.0

Maybe they should cut back on their cell phone bills. Or how about eating out less? Or maybe they should budget their money better.

These people will eventually get their money. But the people who were told to do what I mentioned above will never be reimbursed for their pain. Better yet, if they tried to avoid their pain they got fined for it.

Super! Two thread on the same thing

    1. There actually are banks and credit unions offering zero-interest and low-interest loans to furloughed federal employees
    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/18/here-are-the-banks-and-credit-unions-helping-federal-workers-.html

    2. How badly do people budget that they're [supposedly] in this bad of shape after missing two pay checks?

    3. All of this concern being shown for government workers after missing two pay checks ---- what about the actual poor and homeless?

I'm all for laying off all non essentials and slowly rehiring them as needed. Massive swamp draining.

Democrats care more about leaving the border open so anyone and everyone can come and go unchecked and unregulated then they do American government employees.

You realize the problem with your braying about this, right?

You and your ilk are not enough.

In a survey from The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, 60 percent said that Trump bore "a great deal" of responsibility for the ongoing stalemate in Washington. Much lower percentages blame Republicans (36 percent) and Democrats (31 percent) in Congress.

Fox news polling found that ~56% of Americans are in significant trouble after missing two pay checks.

I grew up in gang-infested southern CA and was never offered comfort from those who threatened my life. Why should their financial comfort be be more important?

How is the minority party in the Senate responsible for McConnell blocking funding legislation from being voted on?

In regard to national security, the shutdown, the one Trump said he’d take responsibility for, is degrading it.

So what is your point ---- 56% of Americans budget poorly and/or are living beyond their means?

Yes, how dare he suggest people get zero-interest or low-interest loans targeting furloughed federal employees!

I am an american and I want a wall, something to slow down the influx, which in the future will be probably greater than it has in the past.

Just because we have irresponsible, clueless americans who don't give a rat's arse if we keep out illegal aliens or not, does not mean some of us don't have some common sense and understand what borders are.

A wall for the entire span of the border is probably not needed, but just in particular areas. And it needs to be designed so a ladder will not suffice to go over it.

Any nation who has politicians and leaders who refuse to minimize illegal aliens coming into america is a nation in decline. Especially given what we have south of us, and the potential of great waves coming into america in the future. It will not get any better, but worse. Don't wait until the house burns down before you turn on the water hose.

Your anecdote doesn’t outweigh the fact that the majority of Americans don’t want a wall.

BS, the only person who can shutdown or open it, is Trump, and Trump only.

Short memories by Democrats and our Leftist Media.

Obama declared a 6 month moratorium on drilling? Hundreds of thousands of people didn’t get a check. The rest of the United States looked on and watched those in the oilfield lose everything they had. By the time the US went back to drilling, the rigs had moved to South America where Obama sent tens of billions of dollars for them to develop their deep water drilling program. That was a 6 month shutdown for absolutely nothing. Nothing changed except it bankrupted thousands of families. Federal workers will get their back pay when the shutdown is over. Oilfield workers never did.

Why? Everyone I talk to thinks the wall makes sense. It's cheap and makes our border easier to patrol.

The Democrat desire to keep the border open so people can come and go unchecked and unregulated is what I don't get.

I think at the top levels, Democrats are on the take from the cartels. They give them guns to use on our border patrol and even tip off their drug dealers when ice is coming. The average Democrat just repeats the same talking points like "walls don't work" and don't realise how dumb that sounds. It's like when Democrats tell you they are free market capitalists or support your gun rights. Totally clueless to reality.

Democrat actions make little sense unless you realise they are trying to tear America down and fundamentally transform it into a global socialist police state AKA Utopia.

Tell you what. When you poll 90 percent of all americans, only then will I believe your belief. I stopped giving creds to polling in 2016 and simply do not trust them anymore. I think they can be used to promote one view over the other by dishonest human beings.

I doubt that most americans are against a wall to stop illegal immigration. Because I do not believe that most americans are that shallow and irresponsible. I think it is mostly democrats.
