Two high profile Canadians have been grabbed by China in retaliation for Canada arresting Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's CFO and the daughter of its founder. Trump made it look as though we had Meng charged as part of our trade dispute with China when he said he might intervene in the extradition request to Canada.

Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig were taken into custody earlier this week, a Chinese official says. (Associated Press/ International Crisis Group/Canadian Press)

Trump also sideswiped the DoJ with his comment, so much so that a DoJ spokesman denied the arrest warrant for Meng was ordered by the White House.

I hope the Canadian judge hearing our extradition request lets Meng go on the grounds Trump made it appear Meng's arrest warrant was political.

No matter what Trump does, the democrats are going to blame him for the outcome. Does anyone believe she should not have been arrested?

US emits an international arrest warrent for Meng Wanzhou for fraud.
    Canada arrest Zeng Wanzhou.
In retaliation China arrest two innocent Canadian to use as hostage.
Prez Cheetos makeds a silly nonsensical comment as always and makes the situation worst than it is.

So, you think it's okay for Lard Bucket to run his mouth and make it look as though he ordered Meng's arrest? Like I said, I hope the Canadian judge denies our extradition request and points to Trump's remarks.

No. As I have said, I do not like Trump. But the fact remains that no matter what happens, Trump will be blamed for it by the media and the democrats eat it up like it was gospel. Do you think the Chinese would not have arrested some Canadians if Trump had said nothing? I have no doubt that they would have.

Who isn't Trump alienating ? ... other than El Saud of course.

The arrest of the Huawei CEO is really bad - and hypocrisy of the highest order - and political gamesmanship of the highest order.

There is a litany of companies who have violated sanctions, been involved in money laundering and so on. These companies were fined ... OK .. but, the CEO was not arrested.

Then there is the violation of international law .. other nations are not responsible for abiding by sanctions imposed by another nation under international law - unless it is some UN approved and agreed to thing.

I don't care about the media. Trump alienated Canadians by running his mouth. That I care about.

It isn't just about the iran sanctions. There are also cases of fraud and spying against Huawei. There's a reason that brand is getting banned in many western countries.

I thought the concern was about the Canadians getting arrested. Trump offending someone is old news.

I share your aversion to the puss filled sore but, Trump is just a symptom of a much larger problem/disease.

What are you blubbering about now ? Canada arrested Meng at the request of the US who wants her extradited.

You should make at least some attempt to have a clue what you are talking about before you speak.

Again .. we do not arrest CEO's running foreign corporations for "fraud" in general - we go after the corporation. Spying is a different issue but, since when have our corporations not been involved in spying on other nations.

The arrest warrant was issued Aug 22, 2018 by a Federal Judge on the Eastern District of NY....not by Trump or the DOJ...

Trump is unraveling the ability of this country to get cooperation on initiatives like sanctions.

We need their cooperation in a number of areas and pissing them off won't get it. They could cost us billions by refusing to allow us to renew an agreement to put early warning radar in their country, and someday we're going to need some of their fresh water.

Yeah, Canadians aren't happy about having China grab their citizens when it looks like we went after Meng on trumped up charges.

"Larger problem?" Indeed. And the problem isn't limited to the rightingers and dupes who support him. Leftwingers alienated a lot of lower- and middle-income folks who switched to Trump and put him over the top in 2016.

Of course not. They're thugs. Canada won't roll over for them.
