    Trump comparable to Lincoln?:roflol:

Because of a few "similarities" based on a murky nexus of "comparing eras" from over a century and a half ago?

Comparing Trump to Lincoln is like comparing The Son of Sam to George Washington (because at a certain point in their lives they both lived in New York).

Where to start! It was so ridiculous that debunking it is not only ridiculously easy, but the false comparison is actually intellectually laughable!

But, at least in comparing Trump's executive orders to the Merryman case, you tacitly admitted your acknowledgement that Trump overstepped his authority!

Dude, if you're going to try and pass yourself off as some sort of sage, at least try and have the slightest idea what you're talking about.

Sounds suspiciously like that ever-present chain mail that suggests "eerie" similarities between Lincoln and Kennedy.

I actually believe the Merryman case was wrong. Congress was not in session and war was about to break out. If there is any time to grant the executive latitude that was it. Of course the judge was a partisan democrat so he didnt.

The paths their presidencies are going on is actually very similar as I pointed out.

I have to disagree with your analysis. Lincoln was, for all intents and purposes, a dictator. He tore the country apart rather than let the South go peacefully. He passed the first income tax. He suspended the constitution and habeas corpus. He accelerates government growth as a percentage of the economy like has never been seen before anywhere on the planet (with the possible exception of Bismarck's Germany).

He was a tyrant and forever banished any possibility of a return to pre-constitutional federalism. Republicans would do well to distance themselves from him.

I disagree with the comparison.. I thought I'd choke last week when Trump compared himself to Andrew Jackson.

I always thought comparing obama to Carter was an insult to Carter.

Yeah, only their mother can tell them apart.

I'll bet next time there will be post who shall compare Trump to the Christ - and where Trump appears indeed bigger than Jesus.

I liked and respected both men for different reasons.
