Then why weren't politicians calling for the National Guard in advance?

Seem to remember extra walls being put around the White House BEFORE the BLM marches ... oh well.

I am not a Trump supporter. The claim that Trump supporters are known for violence is easily refuted. Trump supporters condemn the actions of these thugs and are not represented by them. Looters are not representatives of the Democrats either. Painting a large group with a broad stroke based on the actions of a few is what racists do.

 

No sir. Reinforcements were offered in advance and were declined. This was unexpected.

I watched a Brett Weinstein podcast with a independent photojournalist who has covered both the summer Antifa riots and Wednesday's riot at the Capitol. He mentioned that he felt his personal security and safety was at risk while reporting on Antifa groups, but did not feel personally threatened by the Trump group, even the two or three people who told him that they were there for non-peaceful purposes.

No one expected violence from Trump supporters except for the small handful of violent extremist who committed criminal acts. Trump rallies are usually thousands of people waving American flags, citing the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the national anthem and Christian hymns, in between rounds of chanting USA, USA, USA!

 

The world is on alert. 10,000 troops in the National Guard will be deployed to DC. Do you do that for people who are "mostly peaceful."

 

Trump fans also nap during his rallies because he can go on, and on, and on, and on saying the same thing over and over and over and over again. Well, and the majority of Trump fans are, well, let's face it, in their golden years and are just naturally tired.

 

Yes. It probably should have been done last week, knowing that hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Trump supporters were planning trips to D.C. Even though no one expected the breech of the Capitol, I expected there to be thousands of counter-protesters which would end up in some street fights (or shootings) between them and Proud Boys at minimum. The absence of Antifa or other counter-protesters is, in fact, very odd.

Anyway, with the inauguration, better safe than sorry this time.

 

People showed up hours in advance before Trump arrived at his rallies. Some camped outside the event centers days in advance. Show a photo of "bored people" after Trump took the stage, instead of photos of people waiting a long time for Trump to take the stage.

 

Uh...those that declined them dropped the ball.

 

Politicians concerned for their safety only have to make a phone call. They were not overly concerned. Anyone can make a hindsight call.

Not sure what your argument is. The facts are that this was planned, out in the open, and nobody was paying attention. Again, it looks like some officials were complicit.

 

OK ... Then why won't Trump get on national TV and tell his supporters to stand down. Right now he says be peaceful in one sentence and then claims the election
was stolen and for his supporters to stand strong. Mixed messages like that get people killed.

 

He did tell them to stop and go home. Then he condemned the criminal rioters with a follow-up video.

There is nothing inciteful about questioning election results. Democrats did it in 2016 and in 3 previous elections over the last 50 years.

 

If Trump supporters were known for violence, they would be paying attention. They are not. On topic, there is no reason for Trump to resign and efforts to impeach are nothing more than political peacocking.

 

While the riot was in progress, Trump and Giuliani were on the phone trying to reach GOP senators to urge them to challenge the count.

For at least an hour, Trump stood in front of his TV and enjoyed the show without doing anything.

Trump led his supporters to believe that Pence could overturn the election and that if he made "the wrong decision," he would be very disappointed.

MAGA supporters then entered Capitol Hill to kill him and Pelosi.

It was Pence and not Trump who called in the National Guard.

Don't worry, Congress is going to make sure that Trump can never run for political office again, and there will certainly be criminal charges against him.

This will be in addition to the many lawsuits he will face when he gets out of WH.

Trump just delivered his final speech to a Border Patrol audience. He started by condemning the riots and by saying that the 25th Amendment will not harm him, but will come back to bite Biden. He is correct.
