http://edition.cnn.com/2018/01/20/politics/shutdown-tick-tock/index.html Who is running the White House? Who is setting the policy? From this account it really sounds like Kelly is in charge, not Trump. Shumer and Trump got close to a deal, then Kelly killed it. If so, that reflects pretty poorly on Trump's status. He does what he is told by his own chief of staff!
Schumer was called to the Whitehouse. It was a 'woodshed' event, not a negotiation. Schumer was given the weekend to think it over.
Hahahaha! @ Kelly telling Trump what to do. One day Trump is a bully, the next day a wimp.....lefties have a Trump for every season!
That's pretty much the point.... Trump is like a box of chocolates (Except you almost always pick a nut)...
Schumer never had any intention of agreeing to anything without DACCA taking the lead on the bill. He wants to hold America hostage to gain rights for illegals and doesn't care about anything else. The dems think it will make them look good in 2018 because they are "protecting" illegals. A very large portion of America doesn't want illegals protected in any way and hopefully it will be felt in 2018.
tRUmp is in the WH and the corrupt GOP control congress, they own this shutdown and will wear it like a noose. #TrumpShutdown
There are only 51 republicans in congress and it takes a 60 vote to pass so how is it they should be blamed for the shutdown.
The GOP control congress/WH & everything that is including in the bills.........they own this shutdown and will wear it like a noose. #TrumpShutdown
I think this is what it is. If he had been accompanied by someone else, the outcome may have been different. Kelly, as chief of staff, controls access to the president. And if he wants to be the one with access, he can do it. I think we should be calling this the #KellyShutdown
The Republicans obviously did not present a bill that could win bipartisan support. Instead they took the approach of saying, "here is a bill we know you will never vote for. When you don't vote for it, we will blame you for the consequences." Maybe they should have tried, "Here is a bill that some of our party members won't vote for, but it should be attractive enough to you that it more than makes up for the number of Republicans we lose."
The bill was supposed to be about the budget but the dems threw in DACCA with the bill where it doesn't belong. If the dems want DACCA then they will have to approve the wall and better immigration requirements also and that is why the dems shut down the government. The democrats are only concerned about a few hundred thousand illegals and have no concern for hundreds of millions of Americans. Maybe we should go ahead and deport those "dreamers" and take it off the table completely. Obama created them with executive order so Trump could get rid of them with executive order as well but he allowed congress to fix the problem and this is what they do with it.
Did you not read where they needed 60 votes to pass? If the republicans only hold 51 then where are they going to get the other votes from? Guess we will have to give it to them in the 2018 election.
Schumer wants DACA included in the budget even though its not a budget issue But he refuses to give anything in return for amnesty
Well, maybe Trump thought it was a "woodshed event". But he does not have the votes. And, after a year in office, he's apparantly still too stupid to know what that means.
You mean Shumer the hypocrite? It must be nearly impossible to reach an agreement with someone like him.
http://fortune.com/2017/09/06/what-is-daca-program/ The Obama Administration put the program in place in 2012. After urging Congress to draft a policy to protect young undocumented Americans during his first term, President Obama bypassed the legislature and created the program through an executive order. If DACA was created by executive order it can be removed by executive order so why not just do it get them deported and take DACA out of the equation? Trump allowed congress to fix this issue and this is what he gets in return for not just doing away with it. America knows what is going on and hopefully they will remember in 2018.
If he does not have the votes then whose votes are responsible for the shutdown? You will never admit it but it is the democrats votes which shutdown the government.
I would deport them all if it were up to me Unfortunately I dont have that power The balance of oower on this issue is about equally divided So my guess is that trump will sign an amnesty bill of some kind but he has to get plenty in return Meaning full funding for the wall, and end to chain immigration, and an end to the visa lottery
