Today's press conference was short but the gist of it is that the census will not contain the citizenship question and the administration will instead pursue more comprehensive strategy for determining a count of citizens, visitors, and illegals that they believe will have better results than a questionnaire. AG Barr reminded us that the SCOTUS didn't opposes the existence of a citizenship question (rejecting the left's claims of racism issues) instead opting for absurd and clearly political reasons to reject the reason why the Commerce Dept wanted to include it in the first place. In the end the fight continues and I actually think its better this way. The President is seen to be compliant with an ridiculous ruling (his predecessor would regularly ignore rulings that he didn't like) while the left is seen to be once again placing of illegal immigrants ahead of the welfare of the nation. And this will continue as this data will be used to determine funding and voting law for years to come. The left will undoubtedly be unable to resist picking illegals over their countrymen in these faceoffs and while it will make their shrinking base happy it will also provide increased support for Republicans.
