Problem is that this was NEVER primarily about gathering information
It was about intimidating people so they would refuse to take part in the census
And as a result achieve partisan advantage

It's another way to divide the nation and energize his base.

Trump is easy to understand. EVERYTHING he does is about him. This was all about creating an issue for people to get worked up about. It keeps attention on him.

Then he issued a bs "executive order" to make it look like he's doing something.

    Absolutely.

That is a given for Trump (an Emotionally-Needy Mental Case).

Obviously, he was using the controversy over the question to divide and drive a wedge.

    ^Trump being Trump. :smh:

Polls mean nothing? You thought they meant everything November 8, 2016.

So I guess now you are a poll denialist and don't believe that the American people mostly support a citizenship question on the census?

Tomorrow he will issue an executive order that all American flags will be red, white and blue.

I would agree if getting rid of Trump is your first and only issue, this doesn't matter. My only point is that most of the American people think it's just common sense to ask a citizenship question on the census. I don't really understand the hostility to the idea of a citizenship question but I accept that I don't always get what triggers the left.

    No kidding.

He will issue an EO proclaiming the "The Sun Will Set in the West" and then take credit for it (claiming that he was the first person that ever thought of it).

Except they're not allowed to share it inter departmentally. Meaning the left hand might know they can't tell the right

Probably because it's been on every census since the 1800s except for the last one and 1960.

As I understand it, "Real ID" will be required in 2020.

All of those illegal licenses will not be valid ID for many purposes.

Yes, many people haven't noticed that the sun has been shifting to the left because of liberals. But he will correct that.

My question is, and I've done a little research but not a ton, WHY was that question removed from the census in the first place?? Apparently in 1960.... Were there lawsuits or rulings or a space issue on the form??

I'd like to know that before I made a determination if it's proper to put it back.

Personally, I don't care if the question is on there or not.... I just love to see Trump and his incompetence take it on the double chin...

Being told by the CJ of the SCOTUS that he lied to the courts was a hoot (for me anyway)...

It probably would have been if Wilber hadn't lied about the reason for it.
But please join your fellow righties in celebrating another loss at the hand of the courts.
I love it when the system works. :applause:

    WRONG.

The LAST time that it was included among the census questions for EVERY U.S. Household was 1950.

It's been close to 70 years since a citizenship question has been included among the census questions for every U.S. household.

    You're welcome. :salute:

Interesting the UN recommends nations have such a question in their census, and Mexico and Canada have similar questions.

The question is on the yearly census. Much better, don't you think?

    Except

    Unenforced mandate?

Our search for more information yielded a Jan. 9, 2013, commentaryby David Whiting of the Orange County (Calif.) Register quoting a bureau spokeswoman, Jennifer Smits, saying that nobody had been fined for failing to participate to date. By telephone, bureau spokeswoman Stacy Gimbel Vidal told us that remains so; no fines have been levied. The bureau, she said, is "really not in the business of prosecuting people who don’t comply."

On July 18, 2012, Andrew Reamer, a research professor at George Washington University, told a U.S. Senate subcommittee that the bureau had not prosecuted someone for not responding to a survey since the 1960 census. Not quite: Bureau spokesman Brian Lavin told us by email that no one has been prosecuted for failing to respond to a survey since the 1970 census.

They already admitted why, they want to suppress the count of hispanics to help Republican seats in Congress. That is 100% the reason. Proven 100% fact.

No question about that GOP motivation.
