But I try very hard to back up my "leftist talking points" with data and facts.

    MAGA is an campaign slogan.

Nobody is "upset" that Trump did not attack Iran and everyone is relieved. They are upset with Trump's bluster and bullying tactics that don't work. He needs to keep his mouth shut and stop the unnecessary flapping. Ronald Reagan never threatened another country and
quietly went about his business. Our adversaries were afraid of Reagan, a no-nonsense President. They fear that Trump will make a mistake and start a world war because he acts like a loose cannon.

The employment record backs up the fact we are "Making America Great Again".

    Oh sure you do.

German business with Iran down sharply as US sanctions bite

German exports to Iran were down 50 percent in year-on-year terms in the first quarter, while Iranian exports to Germany dropped some 42 percent.

You don't understand Trump, Free Markets, or Communism. Frau Merkel starving pensioners to benefit German Banks makes her a cronyist, not a free marketeer.

As for your claim that Germany will bravely shield their companies from mean old Trump's sanctions?

Herr Heiko Maas: Germany can't protect businesses from US sanctions in Iran

The US will penalize foreign companies doing business in Iran, European firms are worried. Their fears are likely justified, as Germany's foreign minister has warned there's no way to protect them.

Sees no shield for companies violating American sanctions

Foreign firms that continue doing business in Iran will face US penalties.

As for the Instrument for Supporting Trade Exchanges (INSTEX)—that was supposed to circumvent the dollar in German/Iranian transactions, kaput!

The US Treasury Department undersecretary clearly stated: “Engaging in activities that run afoul of US sanctions can result in severe consequences, including a loss of access to the US financial system.”

And actually it looks like Trump has your number:

To rival U.S. economic power, Europe needs a single monetary policy. But to develop such an alternative, the euro needs the kind of radical reform fiercely opposed in Berlin. Germany fears taking on the responsibility of the bloc’s debts, because of the varying economic strengths of the EU’s 19 members that use the currency. Berlin also is concerned that a true rival to the U.S. dollar would increase the euro’s value, hitting its own highly successful export-driven economic model. Trump, having a very large brain, intuited this in a glance.

Trump was right not to kill Iranians over their destruction of a US robot. Iran is desperately lashing out because our sanctions are so effective. Iran can give up their nuclear quest and their financing of terrorism as rejoin the civilized world, it's their choice.

    In HINDSIGHT I have a strong suspicion that what actually went down was something more like this;

One of the BLOTUS's lackey's interrupts him while he is on the phone with Shawn Manatee of FauxNoise and tell's him that Iran shot down one of our drones. The BLOTUS is annoyed by having his play date interrupted and yells at the next person he sees which just happens to be Bolton-in-a-china-shop and issues the order to attack Iran without consulting with anyone else.

The order is passed on to the Pentagon and the system kicks into gear but as soon as one of the Generals and/or Admirals becomes aware of it they alert the Joint Chiefs.

The Joint Chiefs are well aware of the FRAGILITY of the situation in the Middle East and that if the Iranians are right that the drone was over their territory then the BLOTUS is essentially using a "Gulf of Tonkin" excuse to start another war so that he can be a "war president" in 2020 and use that to be re-elected.

The Joint Chiefs arrange a meeting with the BLOTUS and convince him that calling off the strike was all "his idea" because that way he can take all the "credit" for "avoiding WW3".

This is just another example of our Military defending our nation against our enemies, especially our DOMESTIC enemies!

Trump is the Bitch of many - and not attacking Iran does not change this fact. He is the Bitch of El Saud - and the Bitch of Benjamin. In particular Benjamin. If you do a little research into Donald's past you will find out why he is Israel's lap dog. Just follow the money !

Big blunder using the so called "nuclear option" - threatening banishment from the international system of payments. This has Europe extremely upset and using the strongest of language in public - not in private "messing with our sovereignty.

Going around clubbing our allies is not how to win friends and influence people. The world has been expressing desire for an alternative to the US sole status for years - but the process was moving at a snails pace. Obviously Russia, China and others have been working hard but Europe was a wild card - taking baby steps such as SDR's - special drawing rights but this is only available to nations - not corporations or individuals.

This has changed and Europe is making moves. The process will take some time yet but - the day there is a valid alternative to the US dollar as the world reserve currency is the day the History book will record as the defacto end of the US economic empire... Full Stop.

Because of these sanctions and trade wars the US has lost its favorable status. Instead we are getting the middle finger from nations like India, Turkey, Germany, Italy and others.

Your last comment was kind of silly :
Perhaps the US should lead by example and give up on its financing of terrorism and join the civilized world !

The employment record is pretty good. This recovery trend started under Obama. Trump's tax cuts are like a little sugar rush. Even conservative economists are worried about longer term economic trends.

If you think debt, global chaos and making enemies all over the world is great, Trump is truly making America great.

Goosing an already recovering economy will come back to haunt him when the recession hits because he will have nothing to goose the economy with.
