As a reality-tv entertainer and casino operator, Trump's grasp of pandemics differs from that of epidemiologists and public health experts.

His need to insist that he had Covid-19 "under control", that it would just "go away" and that "everybody's getting better!" keeps running up against empirical reality and those who respect it, understand it, and leak it to the public.

With Bubba Wallace and NASCAR to deal with, the last thing he needs is the Coronavirus Response Coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force spilling the beans about the Coronavirus.

I'm not finding what you insist to be the topic??? Do you by any chance have a link to something other than a left-wing, political opinion site?

Trump responded to Birx folding to a barrage of Pelosi attacks. It was a cowardly retreat from the science she had been defending in the face of attack by the radical leadership of the Democrat Party.

How dare Dr. Birx rely on facts instead of blind worship of the Dear Leader's commands! It is cowardly to turn to reality! There is no reality! There is only Trump!

If Birx's feelings are hurt, she can always go back to decorating her face shield... **rolls eyes**

If Trump's feelings are hurt, he can pound sand. We shouldn't shelve scientific facts just because they make the Oval Office infant throw a temper tantrum.

Apparently, you somehow missed Trump's attack on the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator as "Pathetic!" after she acknowledged that the pandemic is now "extraordinarily widespread."

Both Birx's dire assessment and Trump's tantrum have been widely reported.

What is clear is that Trump's lashing out at his Coronavirus Response Coordinator's acknowledging that the pandemic is now "extraordinarily widespread" comes right after her competence was attested to by a White House spokesperson in response to the House Speaker expressing a lack of confidence in her.

Pelosi had never characterized Dr Birx as "Pathetic!"

    Trump did.

it probably has to do with the authors' piss-poor sentence structures and inability to make a point. Perhaps a non-opinion site might do a better job of narrating your feelings???????

There is no such thing as a "scientific fact". There are just facts... and facts are not universal truths nor are they proofs. They are merely assumed predicate.

If you need to try to contrive excuses for Trump's calling Dr Birx "pathetic" after she acknowledged that Covid-19 is now "extraordinarily widespread," then that is what you must do.

As I read it, he characterized her folding as pathetic. I realize Democrats can't distinguish between disapproving of something a person does and disapproving of the person. It's in the DNA. Probably explains why Democrats are always killing eachother.

Dr Brix expressed her expert assessment that the pandemic is now "extraordinarily widespread." Trump lashed out: "Pathetic!"

What evidence do you have that Dr Brix's statement had anything to do with the House Speaker's having expressed a lack of confidence in her?

Does anyone question Dr Birx's assessment of Covid-19 in the US as now being "extraordinarily widespread," regardless of Trump's calling her and/or it "Pathetic!"?

Trump lashed out at her because she acknowledged the reality he needs to hide, ignore, or divert attention from
    .
Accusungt Dr Birx of expressing the truth only because of anything Pelosi said is an insult to Dr Birx.

    That's
    pathetic.

Yeah, just like ANY President who isn't an epidemiologist or a public health expert. So your reference to him being a reality TV guy and casino operator is totally and utterly irrelevant.

You need to at least ATTEMPT to explain how his stupid rhetoric led to negative consequences.

WTF does Bubba Wallace have to do with this?

Trump becoming hysterical and lashing out at Dr Birx for honestly acknowledging that the pandemic is becoming "extraordinarily widespread" is unfortunate. Presumably, most former reality-tv performers and casino operators would respect the vastly superior knowledge and expertise of public health experts concerning pandemics, and not publicly demean those serving the nation in that capacity.

Look, Trump is obviously an idiot and he's just being Trump. He shouldn't have said it, but it doesn't mean that he thinks that Brix is wrong in her assessment of it being "extraordinarily widespread." He may have just thought that she was saying it directly in response to Pelosi's remarks - in his words, she "took the bait.'

    False Authority Fallacy.
    Invalid Proof Fallacy.

Dictionaries do not define words, nor are they an authority over any word definition.

The word 'fact' is defined by logic. In logic, there is this thing called an 'argument'. An 'argument' consists of a 'predicate' (or multiple predicates) and a 'conclusion'. A 'predicate' is an independent (or conditional) statement for a conclusion, while the 'conclusion' is the dependent statement. In other words, a conclusion of an argument is a statement that is dependent upon its predicate(s), while the predicate is an independent statement.

Another way to visualize this is to take the basic form of any logical argument, which is A > B, where A is the predicate and B is the conclusion. As the > ("therefore") symbol notes, B is completely dependent upon the validity of A, while A is an independent statement that can be either "accepted" or "rejected". The "acceptance" of 'A' as a 'True' (in other words, accepting the statement "pigs cannot fly" as being the truth) is what a 'fact' is.

Saying that "pigs cannot fly" is a "fact" just means that the predicate "pigs cannot fly" is being accepted as a True by all conversing parties (aka, it is an "assumed predicate").

That is not the same as saying that "pigs cannot fly" is a truth, a universal truth, a proof, etc...

Actually the whole idea of a dictionary is to define words. But you accidentally stumbled into the general vicinity of the truth. Usage determines meaning, it's a bottom up process, not top down.

Meaning is often determined by context. If you are testing a light switch and get 3 million MTBF, that is a fact. Your use of logic here doesn't really fit, and it reflects your ignorance of how science works.

Einstein fought that fight, and lost.
