All I ask you to do I watch Trump and what he says. Go to the 2.30 mark. Ignore the commentary. Even down here, I know people who have been affected. No deaths among them, thankfully. The US death toll in the Vietnam War was less than 200,000 bit I'll bet most Americans know someone who was affected by deaths in that War. Come on Team USA, this bloke should be unelectable given he is such a disgraceful person.
I will take Trump any day over the authoritarian government you submit to which mandates: Where you slept last night is where you'll need to stay for the next six weeks." Curfew between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Only one person per household will be allowed to leave their homes once a day -- outside of curfew hours -- to pick up essential goods, and they must stay within a 5 kilometer radius of their home unless nearest shop is over 5 KM away. Exercise can be taken for up to an hour a day, with one other person, but still within five kilometers of a person's home. https://www.thestreet.com/mishtalk/...down-under-draconian-covid-rules-in-australia
Fake news, he objectively did not say the people who died are nobodies. Another incident of purposeful misrepresentation in order to attack the president. This is why no one trusts the media. The media did it to themselves. Some ignorant people may fall for it, but the majority will not. He would be unelectable if he actually said the things media claim he says, but its ALWAYS a lie on the part of the media.
Trump wants his disease to kill off most of the people in the US over age 65. This willl enable him to be the President who kills off Social Security and Medicare, the death of which are the two great Holy Grails of conservatism.
Could happen for a variety of diseases at any point. Or you could get ran over by a car. Or trip and fall on a stick. Life is scary.
You make a claim, i.e., Trump wanting to kill off old people. What is your evidence to support this claim? Maybe high risk people should stay home and the rest of society should accept a certain level of risk. Our society is based on accepting risk. For example, thousands are killed every year in car accidents. We could save thousands of lives by limiting the top speed of cars to say 15 MPH. But we don't do that. Why??
I don't think they were ever in effect. Certainly never in my State of Queensland. Victoria, (the State mentioned in that link) is the most affected State down here, but even it is outperforming the USA. But, this Thread is not about Covid, is about the stupid, absurd and alarming things which Trumps fart out of his grubby mouth.
Ah.....metropolitan Melbourne...not the entire State. Back six weeks ago. Things have been relaxed since then, but still, pretty strict. https://au.news.yahoo.com/coronavir...ed-as-new-restrictions-imposed-044620087.html
Would you stop driving your car if it meant saving the 40k lives that are lost each year on our roads? If not, you could shame yourself or others just as easily.
What I mean is: if any individual such as yourself wants to restrict your activities because of risk. that is your risk management decision. But don't tell other people to shut down their business and lives. Let them make their own risk management decisions. Again, this is called freedom.
Exactly. Life is one long series of risk management decisions. Every time you get in your car, every time you shake someones hand, every time you go out in public, every time you eat something you didnt prepare yourself. There is any number of dangers you could face each day. Shaming people over covid because "if it saves even one life" is astoundlingly stupid. You could save so many lives by not driving your car for instance.
'Freedom' ey. Seems to me that is dragged up as a convenient catch cry on call. You are not free to drive at 100 miles an hour through your neighbourhood yet I do not see any complaint about loss of freedom because of that restriction.
