This is really another nothing burger story. Even in the story there was a quote from the Clemson quarterback:
At that age they probably really don't care about the food. It is more about the opportunity to meet the president and be at the white-house. The experience means more too them than eating a sit down gourmet meal. It is nice to see that the president has the insight to see that.

What is amusing is the president genuinely seems to love fast food. If I had access to a world class chef to make my meals I would be trying something new every time. Also being so rich his entire life you would think his food palette would have evolved beyond fast foods.

Actually, contrary to what you might think, diet isn't nearly as much a factor in athletes as it is for the rest of us.

For the average runner they run maybe 30 mins to an hour a day average. This doesn't burn many calories.

If you are a professional athlete you are going to be working out and training upwards of 6 hours a day, which consumes an adult male's daily intake each day.

So their split of exercise/diet is far more in the exercise direction.

Michael Phelps could eat McDonalds every day if he wanted. Indeed, they eat a truly massive amount to make up for the calories burned in exercise.

The reason they dont just binge McDs every day is because they're eating so much the fat content (particularly poly fats) would be extremely unhealthy in those quantities.

Having a Big Mac here and there is absolutely acceptable for them. Less so for us mere mortals.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence raved about the visit, telling TMZ Sports at the time that "it was awesome. We had McDonald’s and everything. It was good.””

Also its typical american isnt hé a nationalist that likes typical american?
Atleast McDonald's & co are viewed like that in europe

I'm bleeding-heart liberal but can I please go on record by saying that I don't mind one little bit whether President Trump chooses to feed visiting sports teams fast food.

I suspect that individual athletes will choose whether or not to partake. Steady Pie noted that Michael Phelps famously enjoyed fast food on a regular basis and IIRC Usain Bolt's chicken nugget consumption is the stuff of legend. OTOH there are doubtless other athletes who wouldn't consider anything outside their defined diet.

As long as both groups are catered for, and no-one is "salad-shamed" then that's fine.

Does all the gnashing of teeth over poor quality food from fast food restaurants mean the alt- lefties are over their constant whining about the $15 minimum wage and unionization of these workers?

    On Usain Bolt:

In the ten days Bolt spent in Beijing, he downed approximately 1,000 nuggets, averaging 100 a day. At 940 calories per 20-piece box, that means that Usain ate about 4,700 calories worth of Chicken McNuggets a day and 47,000 calories over the course of his stay in China.....

.....“At first, I ate a box of 20 for lunch, then another for dinner,” Usain writes in his soon-to-be released autobiography Faster than Lightning.“The next day I had two boxes for breakfast, one for lunch and then another couple in the evening. I even grabbed some fries and an apple pie to go with it.”

I understand the idea behind simple foods and we have fast foods occasionally too but If I had a choice between having a McDonald's burger and firing up the BBQ and grilling my own burger I would take my burger every time if time and effort were not the issue. It is hard to compare a McDonalds's burger with it frozen thin patties and dehydrated onions and shredded lettuce to one cooked with high quality fresh meat and fresh vegetables. The difference between a billionaire and POTUS and us is he has a world class chef available at all times. Time and effort and not a problem for him since he can have the home made burger at his beckon call.

We were out on US 98, thinking of driving into a city. Behold, new Burger King had sprang up not far from an isolated truck stop. Whoppers 2 for $6. This let us avoid going into town, great.

I was surprised. Smothered with lettuce and lots of veggies on top, very good burger. My only complaint is the bun, would be better toasted.

Not Five Guys (and not FG price) and not as good as campfire meat, but we were very happy with BK.

Well, at least this time he took his coat off, and didn't make it entirely about him

Trump can not do the traditional social and cultural functions past presidents have, he can't attend the Kennedy Honors, Al Smith dinner, sporting events, nor even visit Arlington on Memorial Day, anything he can't make all about him he can't do, way to much of a narcissist

How much would a major corporation pay for advertising opportunities like that?

Its one thing to supply a particular manufacturer's food, but it is quite another to cover it with sale advertising!

Perhaps a case could be made for the nutritional ingredients being in such packaging, but that information is NOT included in the corporation's White House advertising sponsor (Donald J Trump).

Trump's personal payoff for putting McDonald's brand name, logo, and wrappers on the White House receptions are one more example of Trump's of the use of personal gain which actually should be paid into the taxpayer.

Of course, the loss of prestige for America in such tacky form that even the most destitute country in the world would have paused from that kind of crassness is a new low for most of the world.

But this display in fact seems somehow to be right at home in making our Trump leader Making American Great Again in the White House Dump!

    America, be Proud!

So Trump is ba'ad, but his name sells product? That doesn't make sense. I thought anti-Trump was the big seller!

Generally, a White House receptions are done to recognize people or groups of some contribution or praise.

Sure, lots of most people as well as Trump eat poorly prepared food from bottom-dollar businesses!

But generally, recognition is acknowledged by putting a better foot forward than what people and Trump eat while watching Fox News and sitting on airplane food.

Curious, I wonder what is on the menu at his premier golf outings? Cold Big Macs? I doubt it.

BTW, Trump isn't selling the people at the White House, he is giving it away after the taxpayers buy it, and the likely promotional goodies go to Trump himself.

Now lefties, please bombard us with how the right has no credibility.....i need some entertainment.

Sorry, but I don't see an issue. I didn't suggest he was selling food at the WH, I was responding to a post on advertising. On the pettiness scale, this ranks down with the piece of tissue stuck to his show. He served big macs while this article just served nothing burgers.
