No that is the opinion of the U.S. Department of Justice as entered into the dismissal of charges against Distributed Defense who was charged with a ITAR violation that DOJ was forced to dismiss because of testimony by the military that semi-automatic firearms are not suitable for use as assault weapons.

You really need to do some deeper research if you wish to be taken seriously when discussing such matters as Assault Rifles / Weapons.

Really please explain how these voters have been corrupted by big firms and lobby groups or are you referring to legislators and not voters?

Well when you don't fact check your sources, plan on getting skunked once in a while, because what you and your source doesn't understand there are already a number of restrictions and lengthy process's already required to obtain an Assault Weapon.

You need to file with the BATF, submit fingerprints, pass a background check and wait about 6 months while the BATF checks you out and decides if you can own one.

And you better have a very fat wallet when you go to pay for your assault weapon.

Even if that were true that's still not how America works. We don't majority rule on anything, our system of government was designed that way on purpose. "The vast majority" of Americans could want to revive the governments plan in the 19th century of sending all black people here to Africa and that wouldn't happen for the logical reason of there being a myriad of laws against doing that.

This is why states rights are such a vital part of the US government system and why Constitutional Amendments are such a royal pain in the ass to even get to the table for vote. You have to convince the majority of STATES to do things, not people. The system was specifically designed this way so as to not allow densely populated areas with folks holding mostly similar views to strong arm the rest of the nation into doing what they want. It's why we don't vote Presidents that way and why we don't do Constitutional Amendments that way or pretty much anything else.

There are many beliefs that exist because a majority of people see fact as being derived from repetition of the collective, something Orwell had well observed at the end of WWII in his satirical writings that warned could be exploited by a powered elite. Show this image
    upload_2019-9-22_12-19-59.png
and the majority of people, will have the Pavlovian response, Identifying it using the one of the interchangeable labels assault rifle, assault weapon and the more recent, NEWSPEAK label, a semi automatic. Yet, it, in fact, is a bolt action LANTAC.
Then too, the majority of Americans when asked what the 2A does, they would say it grants the right to own firearms.
And then there is a huge number of people that believe,
    Antibiotics kill viruses,
Dropping a penny from a tall building can kill someone,
Jesus was born on December 25th,
That the Dark Side of the Moon never experiences sunlight,
Or any of the other misconceptions wildly held,
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions

So, the ministry of MINITRU continually changes the definition of and interchangeably uses the demonizing terms assault rifle, assault weapon, military style rifle and semi auto which is accepted as denoting an evil class of firearms, while, most of the faithful can’t provide a definitive set of criteria the distinguished such a firearm from any other except by resemblance to the image of an AR15 or AK47 image profile commonly displayed by the mainstream media when using the labels. Then when pressed for a definition, in Orwellian DOUBLESpeak, simultaneously point to one of the mainstream NEWSpeak definitions and often deny there is an set of criteria the label ‘assault rifle’ was originally applied to and that was coined by the Germans to represent in WWII.
It is interesting how the themes in the book 1984 can be seen in the language the current liberal collectivism dogma and in the repetition of the mantras of the elite coached mantras of collective that become ‘fact’ for the faithful. (1984, an applicable good prophetic read)
    Lies are truth,
Ignorance is strength (many GCAs here reinforce that idea).

In regard to the labels “assault rifle”, “assault weapon” and the conflation of the terms to “semi automatic”,

“It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”
    ― George Orwell, 1984

And, the collective voice grunts with agreement.

I'm quite sure if one has the correct criminal connections, that is to say knows someone who smuggles dope, one could get a real Assault Rifle, without a background check, 4473 or any form of ID other than some Benjamin's, by meeting that person behind a Walmart.

And that is the true fallacy of gun control laws, restricting or banning firearms by law will always be circumvented by those who don't adhere to the rule of law.

The GCA's know this and when viewed critically exposes their true goal of disarming the law abiding, while leaving the criminal element of our society armed to the teeth.

It's getting better slowly. At least now more honesty is coming out from folks. In conjunction with using the incorrect term "assault rifle" I'm now hearing folks flat out say screw the semantics anything with a detachable magazine that holds more than 6 rounds should be illegal.

We just had Beto on national TV expose the truth about how the Democratic Candidates actually think. Much to their sheer horror by the way, if you watch the video you'll notice the rest of them up there looking at him like "shut up right now idiot" as he went on his tangent about confiscating AR's and AK's. As my parents used to always say, if you want to know the truth then just let somebody talk long enough, eventually they'll accidentally tell on themselves. We all knew what the end goal was for all of these candidates, but it took emotional Beto to lose his composure and spill the beans in desperation.

I actually respect that to be honest. I strongly dislike hypocrisy and liars. Just tell me the truth and I'll respect you even if it's something I don't agree with. Don't beat around the bush, tell me what you want flat out, we're all grown adults there's no time for nonsense.

Yes we're going to take away your AR-15s and AK-47s. Anything that can hold more than 6 rounds or 10 rounds and can be fired semi-automatically without reloading should be illegal. Good for you folks. I'm not being facetious I genuinely appreciate the honesty that is FINALLY being revealed. For so many years we've been hearing the same tired beat around the bush argument about this.

Good on Beto, good on Biden who also said it previously, and good on anybody else who is open and honest enough to flat out tell the truth about what they truly want. I remember many years ago in a college debate course the professor opened up with "Any yes or no question WILL be first answered with either yes or no, after which point you will be allowed to elaborate, failing to answer yes or no first will result in immediate disqualification". That's how things should work in regards to everything. Politicians should be forced to follow those rules every single time they open their mouths rather than this beat around the bush answer nonsense that they ALL do.

Next is for Warren to say "Yes we will raise your middle class taxes to pay for free healthcare" and I'll actually respect her too, but thats a different topic.

That the military says semi-automatic firearms are not suitable for use as assault weapons, does mean that they are assault weapons. Them people simply want firearms that also have full auto.

I'm not going to explain how lobby groups operate and how they corrupt the people who vote in legislation. You aint paying me. You're just deflecting away what the fast majority of the people want.

You previously didn't even know I already posted my sources. So now it suddenly isn't fact checked. It's not as if you sourced and quoted something that debunks what I argue.

And without select fire which includes full auto, they are not Assault weapons.

    Want to try again.

You're nitpicking away as if the US is ruled as a dictatorship. It's just laughable how you portrait how voting works in the US.

    The fast majority eh?

It matters not, your source (Wiki) which is know for being incorrect, is incorrect in this case and neither Wiki nor you understand what the terms you are using mean.

"Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military."

How about you read back and find my source, or look it up yourself.

Spotting that it aint military. That's not disputing what is an assault rifle.

No that is the opinion of the DOJ.

Once again and this time try reading it.

"Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military."

"Not only is this a First Amendment victory for free speech, it also is a devastating blow to the gun prohibition lobby," noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. "For years, anti-gunners have contended that modern semi-automatic sport-utility rifles are so-called 'weapons of war,' and with this settlement, the government has acknowledged they are nothing of the sort."

Therefore semi-automatic firearms are not Assault Weapons by the U.S. governments own admission.

No you explain what a fast majority is.

If it not suitable for military use it is not an assault weapon.

    Again incorrect.

    Assault Rifle

By U.S. Army definition, a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi-automatic firearm regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect.

You clearly don't know what I'm talking about, and never saw my source, ... yet claim it's wrong with nothing to back it up and resort in personal attacks. Nice going.

That's your silly tiny opinion. Who cares

Your source doesn't debunk a thing.

I checked out your source it's incorrect.

Incorrect, it is the opinion of the U.S. government.

This kinda reminds me of a sniper attack, you are up there slinging out miss's and this is the response you end up receiving.

By the way you still haven't explained what a fast majority is, why is that?

A fast majority is a fast majority.

You only put up that semi automatic assault rifles wont do

My source says 2/3. That is a vast majority.

Nope I did not make that statement the U.S. government did.

Come on wake up, you have backed yourself into a corner with misconceptions of which you understand little about and are now drowning in your lack of knowledge.

All you got is a source saying that the army doesn't want assault rifles who are semi.... but that aint the same as them saying those aint assault rifles. While the point remains that 3/4 of the people do want strict regulations on assault rifles, and with that... they do mean AK kind of weapons. That is the core of the subject. Not your nitpicking whining ways of "what exactly is an assault rifle".
