    Ok, first the quotes (tweets):

Moments after Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, warned the US central bank was facing a “new challenge” as it deals with the Trump administration’s seesaw trade policies and ongoing dispute with China, Trump went on a Twitter rampage calling for a US boycott.

Our Country has lost, stupidly, Trillions of Dollars with China over many years. They have stolen our Intellectual Property at a rate of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year, & they want to continue. I won’t let that happen! We don’t need China and, frankly, would be far....

....your companies HOME and making your products in the USA. I will be responding to China’s Tariffs this afternoon. This is a GREAT opportunity for the United States. Also, I am ordering all carriers, including Fed Ex, Amazon, UPS and the Post Office, to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE,....

In all my years, I've never heard such from a President...... ordering private companies to look for alternatives to where they do business??

Geez, I know he's a blowhard, but this to me shows complete contempt for our system of government and a complete lack of knowledge about the limits of executive power. It actually ticks many boxes in the definition of facism.

I do wish he would rethink his phrasing.

"Order" is harsh wording. There is validity to his message, but people push back at being "ordered" to do anything. The sentiment could have remained the same, but the effect less off-putting, if he'd replaced "order" with something less harsh.

For example, instead of "Our great American companies are hereby ordered to....", he could have said "I plead with our great American companies to....."

I don't recall ever hearing Trump use the "Plead". I don't know if it is in his vocabulary. He probably views the word as a sign of weakness.

Forbidding US companies to do business with hostile countries is Fascism?

Show me your angry posts over this:

"Obama authorizes 'economic embargo' on Russia's Crimea".

He is right. I agree with Libby on being ordered, but for those who have supported big government, you may as well get used to being ordered around.

Poor approach and choice of words, indeed.

He should be encouraging and/or shaming companies to relocate their operations here or elsewhere instead of issuing "orders" he can't enforce.

Sanctions and embargo are within government purview. Ordering private companies out of a country is not. If they choose to stay, government could make life difficult for those companies, but ordering them out is a different matter.

You got anything that says differently?

Trump realizes that the US has lost the trade war. He is going down in history books as the only president who tried to do something against it. The era of China being the supreme world economic power is emerging. And with that, their army is going to march around like the US has been.

He obviously has no authority to "order" them...not the right word to use. But he certainly can encourage them, as other President.have as well.

The Obama admin famously tried to force Apple to create software to unlock iPhones.

Well, that's not going to happen. He said what he meant, and he meant what he said.
He said what he meant, and he meant what he said.
To him, your phrasing would be considered a "weakness". He said what he meant, and meant what he said. KAKAKAKA. (Popeye reference).

No sense trying something without any reasonable expectation of it working. It amounts to spitting in the wind.

At some point, China will just say "screw it" and dump the US debt it's holding (over 1 trillion), refuse to sell rare earth to the US (China controls 90% of rare earth worldwide) or just refusing any US imports. Refusing imports would be the least painful, but that's still over 7% of total US exports.

No, he's not right and no, he can't "order" companies to do anything.

Obama ordered private companies out of Russia...Exxon for example was in the middle of a major project then and were forced to leave by the Obama admin.

People should realise by now that Trump's twitter account isn't official communications.
Now lefty's will be arguing among themselves about this latest tweets while Trump goes on to push another EO for something totally unrelated... Works every time...

Do you lack nomenclature awareness that the left is not the Democrats?
