Yes, he is stuck in the past and they need to focus on the here and now and plans for the future. He is not capable of recognizing anything beyond what he wants even if that's a hinderance to the party or the people.

The Fatigue will probably last a while too.

IOW, I wouldnt put too much faith into what a few disgruntled donors have said in your O/P opinion piece. Trump is still a strong influencer, and by the looks of it, his endorsements are bringing in big wins for those he endorses.

 

It's basically "psychological rape". I have a family member EXACTLY like him. Always whining, manipulating, lying, unadulterated bashing when she doesn't get her way, just hate and control. She is completely missing any kind of human emotions that allows her to recognize anyone else's needs, wants, etc.. 24/7 it's ALL about her and there is hell to pay if anyone dare step out of line. Like him, she has been able to manipulate people into causing bodily harm to others.

In one sense, I don't blame his victims. They aren't even aware they are being lied to or manipulated (which is why he's so dangerous). It's toxic on every level and his cloud of mind games makes it impossible to see through the fog.
