82,000 cases of coronavirus worldwide, how many in the US? Clearly the liberal fearmongering is out of touch with reality...

What would the pandemic response team due when there is no pandemic? Should we keep a team of highly paid people sitting around waiting and charging to tax payers when there are no pandemics? Doesn't make a lot of sense to keep a team assembled just in case, makes much more sense to assemble teams of experts when a pandemic occurs.

Now that just sounds too damn reasonable :)

I wonder how much money we saved by not having a "pandemic response team" sitting on their hands for the last two years.

    Oh, yeah!

Bio-scientists who are working on the latest viagra making big bucks are going to quit and go to work for a boneheaded President who will be telling these scientists to say there is no problem, keep the stock market up!

Sorry, intelligent and capable professionals with years of experience will still need a lot of time to get caught up to the current state-of-the-art before they can really produce effective solutions.

That year or two delay means alot of dead people and billions or trillions of dollars lost.

It doesn't work the way you want. Your way gets the boneheaded, venal, tipoff artists Trump are surrounding him now!

This was Obama’s White House team that Biden put together lead by a dem political operative, to deal with the Ebola outbreak...it wasn’t necessary two years ago.

Trump got Dr Donna Birx. She’s amazing.

this team that was let go was the remains of Obama White House team dealing with Ebola. The CDC didn’t stop working...moreover the first human testing for meds for the virus started today. Nothing was lost

No but there was a measles outbreak and I am sure you have had more than one outbreak of other problematic diseases such as Norovirus

Cool and we have the CDC, we don’t need remains of the White House team Obama put together for the Ebola outbreak in 2014z

By all means, we need a pandemic response team (in addition to the CDC and NIH) on full alert at all times to deal with a measles outbreak.

But, but, Ebola is..............sort of like a measles outbreak, right? :p

The admiral in charge was not fired but quit. John Bolton replaced him. The job was soon over for the Ebola situation and the team was disbanded.

And AP had this to say:

AP FACT CHECK: Democrats distort coronavirus readiness
By LAURAN NEERGAARD and CALVIN WOODWARDyesterday

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential contenders are describing the federal infectious-disease bureaucracy as rudderless and ill-prepared for the coronavirus threat because of budget cuts and ham-handed leadership by President Donald Trump. That’s a distorted picture. For starters, Trump hasn’t succeeded in cutting the budget.

He’s proposed cuts but Congress ignored him and increased financing instead. The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect.

MIKE BLOOMBERG: “There’s nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. And he’s defunded — he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC, so we don’t have the organization we need. This is a very serious thing.” — debate Tuesday night.

JOE BIDEN, comparing the Obama-Biden administration with now: “We increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget. ... He’s wiped all that out. ... He cut the funding for the entire effort.”

THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC.

So..........you are unaware of the problem of post measles encephalitis? Personally, having seen a case I am more concerned about that than the Corona virus

    https://www.encephalitis.info/measles-infection-and-encephalitis

But please continue to dismiss outbreaks of infectious diseases as not being relevant to Trumpworld since the great leader has spoken and said there is no problem

Clearly they shouldn't complain until there is cause. Liberals played their hand already, no matter the outcome they will whine. It's fine. That sort of childishness only works it things go bad. On the other hand if it doesn't, it's just one example of them crying wolf...

Yah we should wait until the global pandemic is in motion before we talk to anyone who knows how to handle one. Brilliant!
