Trump is abusing the National Emergencies Act. A President doesn't deal with a humanitarian crisis by building a wall. A President doesn't deal with refugees by building a wall.

Trump is attempting to usurp a fundamental power of Congress, the power of appropriating funds. That power belongs strictly with Congress. Congress denied Trump the money he wanted for his wall. Trump is creating a Constitution crisis by going around Congress to obtain that money.

This is not about the National Emergencies Act itself. Nor is about the authority of the President to declare a national emergency. This is about Trump's attack on the Separations of Powers principle contained in our Constitution.

The man I don't understand in all this is Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. I didn't always agree with McConnell, but I respected him. That all changed when Trump became President. He is now merely a Trump lackey. On rare occasions he has been known to be critical of Trump, but that is it. He never does anything about it. When all is said and done, he backs Trump no matter how stupid Trump is. For example, he changed his mind and backs Trump in his effort to usurp an important fundamental power from Congress, control of appropriations. That I clearly do not understand and McConnell never explains himself.

What I don't understand is how foolish McConnell is when it comes to party loyalty. Leading up to the 2018 mid-terms, all Trump talked about what his wall and the "invasion" from Central America, and he declared the election a referendum of him. The GOP lost 40 seats and control of the House. The GOP also lost several state houses and state legislatures.

Why does he back Trump? Trump is a loser. Not even his supporters can defend him.

A bill needs to pass both houses before it becomes law. That bill was blocked by the Republican House.

That money is to be used to combat drugs. It is not to be used to fund Trump's wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for, according to Trump.

I take it you agree with Trump. Creating a Constitutional crisis because he can't get his way is a great idea.

Why it is so good that future liberal Presidents will use the precedent set to advance their liberal agenda like Medicare for all, banning assault weapons, the green new deal, and a free college education.

    Great idea, there, sport.

The crisis will continue to shrink Trump support.
