For many its a 'dream', not 'reality'. Who would not want to own a nice house?

Well let's look at America, what it was founded on and what it is.
For starters it was founded on freedom of religion which at the time did not exist in Europe where our founders came from. Now it does thanks to the American example.
Then we could move to the class system that was prevalant in Europe at the time. You stayed in the class you were born into but in America the class system was gone and you could rise as high as your abilities and initiative allowed. That too has spread to Europe.
Then there's government being ruled by the people instead of people being ruled by the government. America started that and it's spreading throughout Europe and the world as a basic human right.
Then there is democracy itself where we choose our leaders with a vote instead of leaders bring chosen for us by a royal family our violent insurrection by the latest Junta or dictator. We pride ourselves on the peacefully transition of power and that has spread as something the world wants.
I could go on and on but maybe you get the point by now.

You have to be ready for home ownership in order to not find yourself in a financial situation later. You should Havre enough in savings to cover expenses when the pipes break, the roof needs repair. In poor neighborhoods, if you see a tarp searving as a roof, ya know that resident owns their home. We (America) can push it too soon and without thought. It's best to rent if you are moving around or financially living paycheck to paycheck.

But owning a home usually is a very good thing when you are retired. By the time people are retired they own or have good equity built up. Selling and moving into a smaller home can give you more retirement money. Or helps you move into a nice assisted living facility when you need help. Home ownership can be a very sound investment.
It's an option we have here and I love options and opportunity.

I just showed you a penthouse in Berlin worth just 400.000 euro.
That's cheap. So you're argument that they aint affordable is just fake news, buddy.
    It's not founded on anything.

    Point was...
That CKW claimed they weren't affordable, without anything to back that up.
While I showed that a penthouse worth just 400.000 euro is rather affordable.

Ok. A penthouse. An apartment. Sure you can buy a big room in a building. If that is what people want then they have it made. I know apartments are affordable there.

New Yorkers would like that. But most Americans want their own piece of land and a single family house on it. That is less of an option in Germany.

You never proved that Germans don't have the money for it, while I proved that houses are cheap.

You did not prove houses are cheap. You said that a penthouse is "affordable" compared to New York, and I agree.

A penthouse Apartment is not a house.

And I don't have to prove that single family home on a plot of land that a German can call their own, is not readily available and not an affordable option. I'm going to let you enjoy your utopia reality that it is.

You wrote "From what I've read, most Germans live in apartments because a single family home is too expensive"
    And I disproved that

When a penthouse is that cheap.... than obviously other places less desirable are even cheaper.
You never proved that they couldn't afford the houses. So my argument stands.

Are you having problems comprehending the difference

*single family home on a plot of land (House for one family)
    vs
*A living space in a building shared with others (Apartment/Penthouse)

I think its time you proved to me that a German family can buy a single family home on a plot of land at a reasonable cost. You haven't proven that to me. You've shown me penthouses. Which are nice apartments.

That's your argument that you failed to prove, when I asked for it. While I proved houses are cheap and presented the fact that a freaking penthouse in Berlin is rather affordable, living little to the imagination that a house would cost less. So that ends also the discussion if they can pay for such an amount of electricity. They can,.. since I also sourced they are saving up way more money than Americans.

My source still stands that I am right. Less than 400.000 for a penthouse leaves little to the imagination if your random house is rather affordable.

    From your site:
    https://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-57044010.html?currencyCode=GBP
    40.000 louse euro's for a lovely house.

The entire argument that Germans can not afford this,
that they can not pay more electricity...
    total joke.

First of all, it is an apartment not a house. Second, it is 35 sqm. I have a walk in closet that is bigger than that.

40K for a place to live in... that's cheap as dirt! lol
The entire point is that the claim was that housing in Germany is expensive.
    It just not true. Period.

That is about $1,500 a sqm. That is not cheap. It is just forcing people to live in a closet and call it a home. Beyond that you find some match box in the ghetto and claim it proves housing is cheap in Germany. It only proves you have no ethics. I posted a 1 bedroom apartment in that same city and it was over a million five. Using your logic, that proves most people in Germany would be forced to live on the street.

I also sourced a penthouse of 400.000 euro.... IN BERLIN.
    That's also not that much.

    Complaint denied.

Complete nonsense. The average new home in Germany costs $294,000 and is 1,700 sq ft. The average new home in the US is $200,000 and is 2,700 sq ft. This equates to a cost of $174 per sq ft in Germany compared to $75 per sq ft in the US. Homes in the US are much cheaper.

Your trailer house penthouse holds no water.

Dude... the point is if the houses in Germany is too expensive of your average German.
And the answer still is no.

There are dumb people and people who are so dumb they don't even know they are dumb. Your syntax betrays your intelligence. Debate with the short bus crowd is not my objective.
