This is the kind of drivel one sees from people who think Fox is news and Limbaugh is a journalist.

What about the end of the world? Give us another date because the last date has passed.

 

There is an old saying -- "A week is a long time in politics". Especially given the impulsive quality of Trump, no one can predict what will happen between now and election day. I'm not just talking about what he might say, but about what he might do, or be implicated rightly or wrongly, in doing, in the world.

For instance, suppose we got into some sort of military conflict with Iran. Would this increase his support -- which wars almost always do, at first, for national leaders -- or would people say, "Here we go again ..." and opt for the Democrat?

Even if there were objective reasons for the latter to happen, if the Democrat is seen to be depending on, or closely associated with, people who have a negative view of America as a land of Zionism, racism, Islamophobia ... this might simply mean they would opt out of voting Democratic. (There were some ... I don't know how many ... people who would have voted Democratic, had the nominee been anyone but Hillary.) Will 'the Squad' become the face of the Democrats?

Again, there is the economy. Lots of people are predicting another dip, maybe an extreme one. Whether or not Trump would genuinely bear any blame for it, he will be blamed if there is one, and get the credit if the economy continues in its present course.

And then there's strategy. I don't know if the Republicans in the Pacific Northwest are smart enough and cold-blooded enough to do something like this, but a parade by them in Portland a few weeks before the election, around a patriotic theme, with lots of old vets and white-haired Republican grandmothers, and maybe some anonymous taunts to the local anti-Fa people in advance ... might get some good video.

And on the other hand, the Democrats can play that game -- surely someone in that camp is thinking about ways to surreptitiously bring out the KKK and neo-Nazis with pro-Trump signs. And who knows what the lads in that basement room in St Petersburg are planning?

So there is all to play for, as they say.

 

Another America is Doomed screed because of Trump? Democrats are dividing America based on identity politics so expect that to continue because that is all they have along with free stuff which, of course, would bankrupt America. China is now suffering a slowdown because they are not the powerhouse the US is economically. For a civil war one would have to convince people to get off their couches to actually move. I'd put the odds or a Trump re-election at somewhere around 90%.

Obama deliberately race agitated for eight years and his policies directly led to police officers being murdered by his core voters as a result . . . and the political Left was just FINE with that sort of division. I guess it just depends on which vision of Utopia is being pushed forward. Trump's vision of a strong and united United States of America or Obama's vision of a divided and weak nation perpetually at one another's throats. Barack Obama said absolutely nothing about race, until Fox Noise couldn’t hold back anymore, and deployed its first race baiting campaign in early 2008. Then he gave a very eloquent speech that erased the issue. Everywhere that is except in the right wing blog/talk radio sewer, where abject white racism and resentment have been stoked daily for two decades.

This sewer invented birtherism, FEMA concentration camps, and regularly warned of “civil unrest” if the black man got elected (and again, when re elected).

You can't pin it on Trump. The decline started long before he came around. If anything give Trump credit for moving the decline along. After his surprise election i was saying the worst Trump could do may also be the best he could do and that is help shake this country down to its core. Be that the case and it appears we are moving in that direction, I for one embrace the opportunity.
