I understand it, but I don't sympathize with it. I grew up in a rural farm state, and I sympathize with those who can understand that the interests of Wyoming, North Dakota, and other small population states are as important to those residents as the interests of NY and CA are to their residents. So on a presidential level, it's important to me that a presidential candidate values the interests of a small farm state as much as they do the interests of NY and CA. I think it's why Trump won in 2016, and Hillary didn't. Hillary didn't care about rural (fly-over) states, or poor states, or middle class states; and hence, she didn't win the electoral college. She was her own worst enemy.
