Perhaps you live a great distance from the problem so know nothing about it. We have parts of the border with Mexico sealed tight as a drum. We have more than a wall, we have iron tight security measures. But parts of the border were approved for the wall, but never funded by Democrats. They created a law to build the wall, but simply refuse to carry out needed funding. All they are left to do is fund the wall.
Oh I know about this, but that is allowing them to stay, not allowing them to enter, not that it is any better. I see that you live in one of those sanctuary states, or at least a state with a few sanctuary cities.
Democrats don't want to build a wall so Republicans say the Dems are for open borders. Then the Repubs dig up old quotes by Dems saying that they they actually are not for open borders and Repubs then call those Dems hypocrites. Awesome.
Oh yes I live in a Sanctuary state that has many cities refusing to abide the laws. My own son in law was a city cop. i asked him then why he did not arrest illegals. He said his city did not allow it. Can you imagine a killer to roam the streets with the approval of the city? It has happened just like that.
It means to take actions to put an end to illegal aliens being able to get in. Clearly since they do get in, the border is not totally shut down. Trump wants that problem solved.

The border wall needs to be finished. You see, more than a wall, it includes sensors, unique cameras and detectors. The wall can direct drones to inspect intrusions.
It seemed that the journalist was calling on Trump to do something different than that. More something that Trump can just issue an order for and then the southern border would be "shut down."
