I didn't thought that the political debate about Trump could fall that low. But yes, it did.

Nah... these are the labels, best defining today's (and yesterday's) Liberals.

Crackers are being awarded to reward a new meme. After having been trained to squawk "Liberal! Liberal! Liberal!" at the majority of Americans who consistently concur that Trump stinks, the ideological media entertainment masters are issuing a new one: "Socialist baby killers!"

Ah yes... and Hillary was supposed to win the presidency; it was a done deal and the fireworks were already ordered. :)

I don't have any strong about Trump. I base all my political thinking by that postulate :
The people which seek the most for power are most of times people that are untrustworthy. So for me, we can only base our relationship with politician on a relative mistrust and exceptation of the worst. D.Trump is a politician, he is so untrustworthy.

But clearly, when the argument become "he is fat", disliking someone, even if you have good reasons to reject everything he represent, people which have that kind of so-called reasonning fell in hysteria.

That's kind of bad omen for the USA that people think this way.

I'm interested in roman empire history, especially its fall there is a lot of thing that make Rome fell and it's unpossible to isolate one specific cause. An interesting story is the one of Flavius Aetius, the last of the roman. And this story show all the damage that jealousy, hatred, revenge created to Rome.

I wish good luck to my over sea neighbour to overcome those dark times.

As egregious as you find current vicissitudes, you need to ween yourself off candidates of yore.

I have many reasons that we live the end of an era, but it's not the topic there. I would say there would be a major collapse in 2050. By the way there is no way to be sure but there is many reasons to believe so.

Jeb sure wasn't on my short list of preferred candidates but then neither was President Trump until I started really listening and pegged him as the ONLY one that offered anything diferent from the status quo same olI suppose but he was running in a very crowded field. Working from memory here, Trump won the primary in Florida but Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich took the next three spots, all winning a lot of votes, with Jeb coming in a distant fifth I think. But that means he also beat eight other very well qualified candidates. Four other Republican candidates had already dropped out by the Florida primary and so did Jeb and Rubio once they saw the clear handwriting on the wall.

Cruz and Kasich both won their respective states but couldn't win much of anywhere else so President Trump was the clear nominee fairly early on.

There wasn't a lot of fat shaming during the 2016 primaries or election though. I guess they are really digging for something new to demonstrate how juvenile and hypocritical haters can be.
Good point. But I don't think for a minute that those afflicted with TDS or otherwise display pure hatred hate the President because he is overweight. They express no such contempt for people they approve of who are overweight including their candidate, Hillary Clinton. Admittedly we don't see as many plump professional politicians as we used to because the camera is unkind and our shallow society votes for beautiful people much more than they vote for the average looking or those with less visual star power. That has become more important than a person's credentials.

Hillary has gained 30-40 pounds by some estimates in the last couple of years or so, probably due to health issues, stress, etc. She is still an attractive woman but the haters are ignoring her weight gain. But they have all manner of vile, ugly, cruel, hateful comments to make about the President and his weight is just the latest in their irrational arsenals to justify them being angry, hateful, cruel, malicious people in how they attack him.

The President is not a politician. He is a deal maker, a negotiator, a compromiser looking for the most effective, economical, and practical win/win solutions to get things done. That is anathema to the opposition and even the ideological fanatical in the GOP.

The President is not a partisan. He could care less which party wants to do the right thing. He would prefer that both would choose to do the right thing. That makes him unacceptable to some Republicans and anathema to those Democrats who support pretty much anybody with a D after his/her name and who condemn anybody who doesn't have a D after his/her name.

The President is not ideologically motivated. He is pragmatic and zeroes in on actual problems and is willing to be completely unorthodox in how he approaches them and the solutions found for him. That makes him especially dangerous to the Democrats and also some Republicans.

The President is getting good results by not sticking with the status quo which makes him look pretty good to people who want results instead of empty promises and meaningless poll tested scripted platitudes. That makes those who stay in power with empty promises and meaningless poll tested scripted platitudes look really bad and threatens the status quo that keeps them on their personal gravy trains.

But most of all they hate the President because he beat Hillary Clinton, the designated heir to the throne, which most of the media, the talking heads on television, the odds makers in Vegas gave him petty much zero chance to do. And that has generated the most hateful, vocal, persistent, and cruelly proactive bunch of sore losers in my memory.

Fat shaming is just one small part of of that hateful and shameful and hypocritical trend.

Point is you said "you guys". I'm a conservative.

It was CNN bagging on Clinton for running and eating an egg McMuffin at the same time.

All the channel's did. Don't act like the news was anything like it is now. Back then I hadn't even heard of CNN, and fox new was still news. I'm calling out the individual not so much the news. Although I have to admit running with an Egg McMuffin is pretty funny okay.. Anď stupid really

Oh please. Back in the 90's CNN pretty much WAS the news.

Besides, anyone in their 70's that don't have "the skinny gene" is going to put on some weight.

    Hillary Clinton isn't exactly svelte.

I was in my early twenties back then and didn't even own a tv so I will except your words as truth.

    Yup again with the truth
I started watching my weight in my late thirties. Do you remember how old billy boy was when the egg Mcmuffin scandal broke...lol. I don't personally care, if the president can't have junk then what hope is there for me. I've already given up all the fun stuff like booze cocane, junk food is all I have left.

No she isn't. And I love the word svelte. I'm going to use it from now on. I will probably confuse my friend...lol

I like the one standerd across the board way of thinking.

    Old age is hell.

I used to take in 4k calories a day in the Corps and I still looked like a stick figure.

If I sniff a pizza now I gain a couple pounds.
