This is happening. We are seeing it play out right before our eyes. Something like 17 states have passed or are attempting to pass legislation to limit access to the vote. And the number of votes cast for Trump in 2020 was about 74M. He is popular with a very large number of people, but more importantly he is popular with jackboot types that would love to see Trump trump the Constitution.

As it stands even now, the people do not elect the President of the United States. Nope. In 2016 the people voted for HRC and in 2000 the people voted for AG. So when we hear any politician or read a member here assert that the Bush, or Trump represented the will of the people, please remember this is simply false. When we hear Mitch McConnell who represents not the people but an administrative region of the nation claim that the people ought to decide, please remember that these words are coming from a Senator who does not represent the people.

So then, imo, the events described in this article are more than plausible and in fact reflect the very intent, or at least a portion of the very intent of the inclusion of the electoral college in the Constitution. It is only by a consensus among states that we currently "enjoy" a system that almost reflects the will of the people. Except that it doesn't even come close. There are only two states that proportion the people's vote among their electors: all others negate the will of those who live in a state that are unfortunate enough to favor a candidate that the majority of their state does not. Is it really any mystery why we have such low voting participation in the US?

So if this happens, meh, just another day in Amerikkka, gettin' her back on track. Unfortunately, as of now it looks like the guy that will receive the benefit will be Trump. At which point it will become clear that we need a Constitutional amendment to eliminate the EC. What're the chances of that happening? Or the even more unlikely call for a Constitutional Convention?

And what can we expect as a result of Trump reloaded?
