It's getting pretty bad for the mandarine moron*. His poll numbers are dropping and more people are blaming him for the shutdown. In addition people aren't placing a lot of importance on the wall. Americans don't want the wall, the Senate and House don't want the wall. And no one wants the shutdown.

There is no reason Democrats need to move one inch on the wall.

Is this poll from the same source that said trump would never get elected?

If it weren't so sad it would be incredibly funny.

“I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. … I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.”

Between the shutdown and Smirkergate, Trump is done.

What Mueller couldn't do to Trump & MAGA, Trump and MAGA did to itself.

    RIP

Yeah it's brutal. In a poll MrTLegal posted approval for impeachment is running ahead of his job approval.

Yeah it's too bad - they had the Presidency, Senate and House. They could have gotten so much done. All they did was give themselves a tax break.

There seems to be nothing so simple he cannot muck it up.

It would seem Pelosi was right when she said we shouldn't debate this on TV.

Trump is pretty immune to the opinion polls. In fact, they matter little - Bush was consistently low, yet, got elected into second term.

That's simply not true. Bush's first term average was 62%. Bush's approval ratings were 47% to 54% in the months leading up to his reelection. His approval was higher than his disapproval, something foreign to Trump who's been underwater almost his whole Presidency.

An AP Poll just out is even worse - 34% approval. It also reflects the other polls in that he is blamed for the shutdown and there is little support for the wall.

The president says there is a national emergency because people are crossing the border so of course his action is to shut down the department that is tasked with preventing this...

    Makes perfect sense...

Makes sense. If he's not recognizing Maduro's government he's going to ignore their order for diplomats to leave.

This will go to the election.

Trump's strategy should be to dangle the golden goose in front of them. Let's see how far they're willing to go to deny a few billion in funding.

Let's say he offered them an end to the drug war. Or a complete withdrawal from the Middle East. It becomes spite vs what their entire base has been clamouring for for decades.

Refusing to remove the diplomats doesn't negate their immunity under international law. I doubt even Maduro would cross that line, but we'll soon find out.

Its a pretty pathetic goose, with the poison pills it was forced to swallow. We can get a better DACA offer without him . The courts will stall for two of three years and their impact will be broader than his puny 700,000. He will have to sweeten the deal sufficient to piss off immigration hardliners, and we still won't accept it. He cannot be trusted. Let him sell his deal to McConnell and the rest of the GOP. He's pulled the rug out time and time again on them..

Probably turn off the utilities. But there is risk. I'd leave it to the CIA guys myself.

Careful, people might look behind the curtain and see that the Wizard of Oz is actually just a bloke with some pyrotechnics.

If it's 10bn in funding vs such a large leftist golden goose as ending the drug war, those on the left will see the game.

What the hell are you talking about? The 'drug war' is not a clean partisan battleground, it is not remotely pertinent to this debate, and no president will ever offer to legalize or decriminalize all drugs, especially a republican one..

Exactly why he should offer it. 10bn is nothing, less than 1% of the Federal budget.

Perhaps not that offer exactly, but let's see how far Dems are willing to go to prevent such a pitifully small expenditure.

He should have waited and offered to withdraw from Syria in exchange for the wall. Amy Goodman would have had a fit live on Democracy Now.
