Not that I recall, you don't get SS unless you pay into the system it is a retirement system. You don't just get it because you are a citizen. Some want to turn it into some sort of socialist program just like healthcare. I am talking about socialist economies and Scandiavian countries are not socialist they are very competitive capitalist economies. They have a lot of social services in those countries and they pay a LOT of taxes in those countries, taxes the lower and the middle classes would raise heck about if they had to pay them.
So again where has socialism been tried and succeeded?

I'm not interested in arguing over your personal opinions and fantasies. Regarding Venezuela, you said "I'm not seeing all this good you say they brought the country." So I listed some of the good that occurred during Chavez's time. That was when US intervention was ramping up but hadn't caused national disasters yet.

Other than that you're wasting my time as I answered your questions already.

I certainly would rather shop the US over Venezuela and Russia!

Today on the MSN main page you can click on a topic which lists 50 of our countries CEO's and the COLLEGES & UNIVRSITIES they were educated in, by these so called socialists of Dirty Donald Jr. Today they head up our leading corporations which hire tens of millions of our citizens from Amazon to Twitter and on and on.

That's usually the only thing he has to say.

It will be interesting to see what he has to say when they put him on the witness stand. I have a strong supsicion that it will largely involve the Fifth Amendment.

You don't have the slightest idea what goes on in schools. I doubt that you've set foot on one in years.

My wife is a teacher's aide in kindergarten. I showed her Trump Jr's comments, and she was very much offended as being labeled a loser by trust fund baby. Face it, junior didn't mean that there are a small percentage of teachers who teach socialism and that those are losers, he meant that this is a widespread phenomenon in public education. We all know how far right people view public education, one just has to read this forum. So, your attempt to spin his statement into something it wasn't, doesn't fly.

You can't discern any meaningful differences between the living conditions of Venezuela, Russia and the US? The great thing about these discussion boards is that everyone is free to have their own point of view.

Oh yes, the Left was once quite open in its praise of the Workers Paradise of Venezuela.

ENDGAME: Russia’s Gazprombank freezes accounts of Venezuela’s PDVSA.

There's a world of difference - their corrupt leaders are socialists.

Our corrupt leaders didn't make the bone-headed mistake of collectivizing our agricultural sector...

So it's not a problem until we have people living in the streets ? Oh wait...we do.

Do you not understand the problem in this country is that we have driven wages so low that people are spending every penny they make just to stay even. There are jobs, but they pay only enough to sustain, and nothing more. Then we have those at the top, and corporations who give you only enough money to survive, and in the ultimate irony they basically take the money back thru having us buy their goods.

And we do not have a "free market" system. We have a wholly owned corporate political system. You need only look at our current tax system to understand that corporations are nothing but a tax haven for those at the top.

It is that corruption that is no different than what we see in Venezuela and when Russia fell. Russia didn't fall because Communism failed. Russia fell because those at the top took too much and the people started starving, and they revolted. That is exactly whats happening today in Venezuela. I know you would like to think that socialism failed there, but thats just not the case. Their leaders are starting to take too much, the people are starting to starve, and they are now revolting. Now in America today, the Census said last year that 51% of kids under 18 lived in households receiving government assistance for food. Over HALF ;)

So its not as bad if your corrupt leaders are Capitalist ? That makes no sense ?

And you should read the "Farm Bill" if you don't think our crops are collectivist .

    Yes that's true.

You're second point, far from it. But feel free to point out in the Farm Bill how are crops are collectivist.

I already explained why it makes sense - our corrupt leaders didn't collectivize our ag sector.

Stalin collectivized the USSR's ag sector, millions starved. Mao collectivized China's ag sector, millions starved. Chavez & Maduro collectivized Venezuela's ag sector, people starve.

    Go figure.

Compound those collectivization schemes with land redistribution schemes and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Like every other vocation, farming requires knowledge and skill. You can't just drop people on a plot of land and expect them to make it productive. They'll be lucky to feed themselves much less produce surplus crops that can be brought to market.

I don't need to read the Farm Bill to know that subsidizing and collectivizing are two different things.
