China Offers a Path to Eliminate U.S. Trade Imbalance, Sources Say

(Bloomberg) -- China has offered to go on a six-year buying spree to ramp up imports from the U.S., in a move that would reconfigure the relationship between the world’s two largest economies, according to officials familiar with the negotiations.

By increasing goods imports from the U.S. by a combined value of more than $1 trillion over that period, China would seek to reduce its trade surplus -- which last year stood at $323 billion -- to zero by 2024, one of the people said. The officials asked not to be named as the discussions aren’t public.

The Left trashed Trump for starting a trade war with our trading partners. Talked how we were hurting American companies. Even the economists were saying Trump was wrong. But that "idiot" did it anyway, saying it will work. Our trading partners sell a lot more to us, than we sell them. It will hurt them a lot more than it will hurt us. He was sure a tariff war wouldn't last long and it seems he was right. Canada and Mexico agreed to new trade deals. S. Korea agreed to a new trade deal. Then after a brief tariff war with China, China began to make big concession, even before new talks could begin again. They started buying soy beans, when they had quit when the tariff war started. America said that was nice but not enough to help the farmers, China bought another huge shipment. Then they also start buying American beef. Something they hadn't done in 13 years. Then they blew our mind and began buying American rice. Something China has never done before. China considers rice a vital part of their national defense and has never imported rich from another nation. They didn't want to depend on another nation cutting it off in case of war. So she would make sure she would grow enough of her own. Then today, China makes America a deal. She will buy a trillion dollars worth of American goods over six years and wipe out our trade imbalance with them to zero. Official talks haven't been started yet, but the word is out this is China's offer when they begin again. This is huge if China carries it through. The jobs it could create. The money that can flow back in. What a boost to an already strong economy. You may not like Trump, but this man has done more for America in just two short years than the last two Presidents has done in 8 years combined. Turned Obama's low paying service and part time economy into a thriving diversified economy with lots of manufacturing jobs coming back. Jobs Obama and Pelosi said were gone and not coming back. So I have to ask, why are you voting Blue? Are the idiot Democrats still strong in wanting to impeach Trump and killing the goose who is laying the golden eggs? I say yes. Who does that make the idiot?

Well it seems this post has had 14 looks over 6 hours by 14 Liberals and not one seems happy about the good news that has come our way. I would think everyone would be happy, it's great news for America. But I am afraid it's like I have been saying for years, we have put Party above the good of the country and that doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

Trump's pride in shutting down the government because Congress, for the past two years, has refused to give him $5.7 billion for a wall that he repeatedly promised Mexico would pay for, and that most Americans do not want, is not going over well with Americans.

Did you read your own article? There is no signed 'deal' at present, and Trump has cancelled his attendance at the World Economic forum, attended by China. American farmers, at present, have no way to deliver on the exports discussed and Boeing is not capable of meeting the demand. And on China's side, their interest in imports is unacceptable to the US:

"Additionally, the types of products that China offers to buy more of could matter more than the overall target for a dollar amount, Orlik said. Airplanes, soybeans and automobiles were among China’s top U.S. imports last year.

“Over the years, China has used the offer of purchasing more technologies with national security applications as a gambit in trade negotiations,” said Orlik. “That’s always been unacceptable to the U.S. because of the strategic costs.”

Why is it unacceptable? They're willing to pay over a Trillion dollar. It's stupid not to sell them. If they spend $1 trillion acquiring patents it'd reduce the trade deficit and reduce IP theft. We need Trump at the helm for the next six years to ensure this goes through.

The overwhelming empirical evidence is that the proposition that "Trump just keeps on winning for America" is not an opinion shared by most Americans.

Has Trump contrived a trade war with China? Yes.

Does that mean he is "winning for America"?

    No "deal" so far.

Does not surprise me or anyone else that Trump's job ratings are not higher. The majority of the country haven't the slightest idea of most of what he has done, I am sure Bumpo that even includes you. The news on Trump is always negative on almost all of the major news stations and press. If they did know his ratings would be much higher. Here is a sample of how the news is constantly reported on him. Over all the major stations have had around 90% bad coverage of Trump. Only Fox news was about equal.

Really? Got any stats from BLS to back that up? Because there seems to be a lot of plants closing.

You are entitled to your prejudiced view, and to dismiss most Americans as "not having the slightest idea" for not sharing it.

Pretending that coverage of every politician from murderous tyrant to philosopher king must be scrupulously balanced to be fair is absurd.

Have Trump's negative antics evoked a widespread negative response when accurately reported by the broad range of US media? Of course.

It's not unusual that those who are being manipulated are apt to accuse everyone else of being manipulated.

So how exactly are they going to do this? Is the Chinese government going to buy more expensive American goods?

Because the consumers in China most assuredly won’t.

Well sense I wrote this ( . Official talks haven't been started yet,) I would say I read the article. Notice, it didn't say it all had to be ready to sell this year or next. Believe me if China places an order they'll break their neck to fill it.

Outside of agriculture, we don't make hardly anything anymore for the average home maker It would have to be in big ticket items like trains, planes, tool and dies, minerals, oil, coal, machinery, etc.

And US agricultural products are more expensive than those Chinese consumers already have access to.

So how is this going to work? Is the Chinese government just going to buy these goods and throw them in the garbage?

Trump understands jobs Lee, and if this goes through, it's going to bring a lot of jobs. Good jobs. Not those 90% plus service and part time jobs Obama's policies gave us. I would think you guys would be happy seeing these better jobs being created. It not only helps us, but our children. Think, no more having our kids living in the family basement because they can't afford an apartment. Being able to get married and having children. Already Trump's policies has created more good paying jobs than we have people to fill them. America will once again be a great nation.

Wrong. China rice is one of the highest in the world. China can't seem to get enough soy beans.
