After trump dropped the demand for a full accounting of the north Korean nukes - and thus, no way to ensure full denuclearization - there really was not much that trump could demand in exchange for sanctions relief. And so, the north Korean summit that saw the president of the United States - again - walk onto a world stage and hold himself out as an equal to the despot leader of North Korea is a bust.

But hey, at least Cadet Bonespurs finally went to Vietnam!

Who wants to bet that we see another "fire and fury" type quote (or worse) from trump within the next 6 months?

During the press conference, Trump suggested that the NK offer was to completely dismantle one nuclear facility (of the three that are believed to enrich Uranium) in exchange for total sanctions relief. Trump walked away from that, something that is a survivable blow for the "deal-maker" because a **** deal would have been worse than no deal.

Trump also brought up the case of Otto Warmbier and trump said he believes Kim's word that he knew nothing about the American kid who died from injuries suffered while in North Korean detention. That sounds like how Teump believed the Crown Prince when he said knew nothing about Khashoggi even though his intelligence community believed the crown prince ordered the murder.

There are no plans for a third summit.

Oh yeah because you nailed the Trump will accept anything for the appearance of a win. You alt lefties never get anything right and it's rather hilarious your obsession to spinning things negative towards Trump after every single false claim falls on it's face. Your worse than a commercial washer on spin cycle.

    Yes

Did he not write that North Korea was no longer a nuclear threat after the Singapore summit?

That phrase does an apt job of explaining trump here. Think about it - trump did not accomplish anything of substance with this meeting (or the last one) and so the North Korean leader got incredible legitimacy on the world stage by meeting the leader of the most powerful country, on equal footing, without having to make any reforms.

And what did trump get? At most, he got a small (and short lived) bump in the polls last time and he got a small (and short lived) distraction from the reaming he is currently suffering by the veritable hellscape of congressional investigations taking place right now.

So yes, he is pretty much willing to accept anything just to declare a win.

My guess is that trump got so pissed at the Cohen testimony by seeing how he was directly implicated in multiple crimes and saw how almost none of his Republicans were willing to actually defend trump (as opposed to solely attack Cohen) and he ragequit the summit.

LOL, such a conspiracy theory not born out by the facts. Cohen provided nothing new.

So Trump dropped the demand that this summit was all about. Is this the art of the deal? What a joke. Kim was never going to give up his nukes. That is the only card he has to play. Our President is such a joke.

Those words came from the President himself. Its almost as if you can't trust what he says.

Would that be kinda like how Trumpanzees accept that the walll is under construction? Would that be like how you guys are willing to accept that he believes Putin and the Saudis over our own people? Yeah, nothing irrational about any of that is there?

So the only reason for diplomatic exchange is for polling numbers? Tell me, did the first START treaty get hammered out and signed during the first meeting? How about NAFTA? NATO? TPP?

This is just another case of the war mongers on the left looking for a reason to attack a country.

Not to derail this thread but Cohen showed Trump's signature on checks that were hush money. He also provided proof of wire transfers. So your post is a lie.

NDA's are not illegal. What one would have to prove is intent which is very weak.

Democrats would have folded by now, and handed Iran, I mean North Korea, billions of dollars.

Have people forgotten the Reykjavik, Iceland between Gorbachev and Reagan. Reagan walked away with nothing whatsoever. The summit meeting was denounced at that time by Democrats as a failure.

But it set the tone and paved the way for the end of the Cold War.

Trump already admitted they were hush money payments, something he denied at first. Now he is trying to frame it as being legal. So the intent has been admitted by Trump himself.

Fair enough, but Trump has gone on record as saying NK is no longer a nuclear threat which is a bunch of hogwash.

President Donald Trump says a lot of things. Most is not to be taken literally. Anyone who followed him at all in the decades prior and has read any of the book he (claimed to) have written knows that public statements that are not based in reality have been a common negotiating tactic by Donald Trump for decades.

we are talking about hush money payments Trump repeatedly claimed did not exist. Now he admits they exist but that they were legal. The legalities are what's at question at the moment. It sounds like they violated campaign finance law. We will see.

Yep, the left gloats over not getting a deal. I take it the left is on Kim's side in this.

For Trump? Yes, the only reason was to distract from bad news with "m'eh news."

I get that complex negotiations take time, but Trump has proven an incompetent moron who is unable to get anything he demands - over and over again. Instead, he destroys agreements. The Iran Deal? The Paris Accords? The border wall?

Even his new NAFTA agreement is reportedly dead on arrival in Congress. Trump can demolish, but he has proven incapable of creating complex deals.
