In his latest rant the Dotard is lashing out at Canadians who come to the US to spend their hard earned money and then sneak these products back into customs to avoid paying the sales tax (not Tariff's Dotard)

Apparently they buy the shoes here in the US - "and scuff em up" - so they can sneak those shoes across the border.

Somehow he then argues that Canadians travelling to the US and spending money is "treating us horribly"

Sorry Trumpies but - the Dude is losing it.

He followed that piece of brilliant "negotiating" with this

“We have to change our ways. We can no longer be the stupid country. We want to be the smart country” Trump said.

    I laughed till it hurt.

He is not psychologically stable. . and has strong tyrannical /authoritarian tenancies . His angry rants are evidence of same. as is his disjointed approach to things.....while rambling from topic to topic losing credibility each time he opens his mouth or tweets his disturbed material. He is inebriated with power and control. Not very rational. with overt evidence of ABUSE OF POWER His rage is meant to provoke .......as like any bully.....he is spoiling for a fight.. making UNFIT for the job ......that reacquires a stable, intelligent , steady hand. bullies are not strong leaders........they are destructive.

He reads some silly article.......and makes a big deal out it........

Why would Canadians buy their shoes in the US when they can import them directly from China and other countries?

    I think that's the key phrase. ;)
Mr. Trump is not against Canadians buying American shoes but against sneaking them trough customs.

In other news China is threatening to put tariff's on US oil imports = they will not be buying our oil.

For those that are not aware the price we get for international shipments (known as the Brent price) is way higher than what we get for selling our oil within the US (West Texas Intermediate price - WTI). Further - because of the glut in internally the differential between WTI price and what producers actually get is substantial.

This is billions of dollars lost with a capital B. China imports more than 9 million barrel's per day. Multiply by 365 and that is 3.285 Billion barrels per year. The Brent price is roughly 70 a barrel = over 200 Billion dollars per year.

Getting a piece of that big pie would put a dent in the trade deficit.

An interesting tidbit in relation to our Trade deficit with China is that a large amount of this deficit is cellphones ( most of which are iphones) - to the tune of 70 Billion. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/19/trump-is-wrong-on-tariffs-and-trade-just-look-at-his-iphone.html

As it turns out the value of trade in cellphones attributed to China and the actual value add from China are significantly different.

Tariffs then will not change much for China. The US consumer will end up paying more for these phones - or the profits of Apple will suffer - resulting in decreased tax revenue - or both. On the other side of the fence - China putting a tariff on US crude will put a huge dent in the balance sheets of US oil producers = major decrease in tax revenue and profits to US companies - money that is spent in the US.

The US also imports directly from China but the same shoe is cheaper in the US but - who cares what their reasons are. Why would Trump complain about Canadians coming to the US and spending money.

There is no better dollar than the tourist dollar ... this is external cash coming into our country - nothing better than that.

    Trump is an idiot.

What are you talking about ? They are not sneaking shoes through US customs .. they are sneaking them through Canadian customs.

Why would Trump care about this in general - never mind the preposterous idiocy of linking this to tariffs and the trade war. Its like complaining that your enemy giving you ammo for your guns.

    WTF is his problem ?

You know I have never been an anti- Trumper. Never liked the guy much but, I was relieved that I would not be tortured by having to listen to Hillary's arrogant condescending tone for 4 years.

That said - Trump is really starting to get on my nerves.

There is no purpose in this article except the conflict between two good neighbors.
I'm sure the shoes in Canada and North America are made in China. So what's the difference?

Canada have a huge tariffs on imported shoes.

A $100 (Canadian dollars 132.76) pair of shoes add the Canadian taxes $18.80 and the Canadian import duty $23.90 and you're looking at $132.12 (Canadian dollars 175.46)

Why is Trudeau apparently silent on this issue? This cross border purchasing is cheating Canada out of the appropriate sales tax and value added tax.

Why is Trump now defending Canadian interests when we have been told Trump is the enemy of Canada?

The issue is NOT where they are made..........the issue is complaining about those that SHOP in the US as tourists, or during business travel....... etc. If Trump does not want tourists and shoppers from CDA........ then he should just make his point wit out his silly drama
CDNS don't have to shop in the US . and add to the tourism economy.

    Why is trump so piety??

Sooooooo - Canadians travelling to the US and spending money in the US is "treating us horribly?" If they get caught and lose the shoes in Canada, their money has already been spent at an American retailer. Not seeing the problem here...

Mr. Trump is a Businessman.. a pure Businessman.
I believe he welcomes all tourists and shoppers ( except Jihadists ) to come and spend money in America.

The reason they do this is because the Canadian tariff on shoes imported from the US is very high. This illustrates the need for Canada to eliminate all such tariffs on Canadian imports from the US. Trump is using the threat of tariffs on Canadian goods coming into the US as a negotiating tool. It's truly amazing to see the stupidity of the OP.

Oh dear. You're so desperate to defend Trump no matter what. LOL

Firstly, Trump is the one who pulled the US out of NAFTA - the very trade agreement that did eliminate "such tariffs" between the countries.

Secondly, the shoes are made in the far east so how do the tariffs on Canadian imports from the US make any difference.

Thirdly, Trump is proposing high tariffs on imports into the US which will result in US citizens going over to Canada and doing exactly the same thing that he is accusing Canadians of doing.

Fourthly, Canadians are spending their money in the US.

Fifthly, you accuse the OP of stupidity, whereas it is your post that is stupid.

    Are you Trump?

NAFTA did not eliminate all tariffs between Mexico, Canada, and the US. Get your facts straight before embarrassing yourself again.
