President-elect Donald Trump on Friday called for a nuclear arms race, one day after tweeting that the U.S. must "greatly" strengthen and expand America's nuclear capability.

"Let it be an arms race, because we will outmatch them at every pass," Trump said in an interview with MSNBC.

...Experts wondered whether Trump's brief tweet meant he wanted to breach limits imposed on U.S. strategic weapons and delivery systems by the 2011 New START treaty with Russia — or planned to expand the non-deployed stockpile.

"It is completely irresponsible for the president-elect or the president to make changes to U.S. nuclear policy in 140 characters and without understanding the implications of statements like 'expand the capacity,"' said Daryl Kimball, the executive director of the Arms Control Association, a leading proponent of arms control based in Washington.

"He must have leaders around the world trying to guess what he means," Kimball said in an interview. "This is bush league."

Well he didn't waste any time. The only question in my mind is whether this is just a scheme to bilk American taxpayers out of trillions, or if he plans to start a nuclear war.

I thought he wanted to build bridges and roads... oh well. What we really need are lots and lots of nuclear warheads and missiles. He certainly has caused our enemies to start preparing for war with the US; a nuclear war. And he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

Well, building lots of nuclear weapons will create some high-end jobs. Yay!

...Only took two days after securing the Electoral College vote.

It's the Reagan Doctrine - watch them go bankrupt trying to keep up with us.

Where do we get our money? So much for the debt, eh? Donald Trump gets in a pissing match and nothing else matters now. Right?

Who would want to be his press secretary. Just after his initial tweet about this subject, we see:
Trump's newly named press secretary, Sean Spicer, said in an interview on the "Today" show that "there is not going to be" an arms race.

And now Trump states "Let it be an arms race, because we will outmatch them at every pass,"

    Trump is unstable and dangerous

Since Russia is already functionally bankrupt, and the United States already spend more on weapons than most of the rest of the world combined, there is no need for this at all.

Spending huge sums of money on weapons that will likely never be used is a fool's errand in a country with crumbling infrastructure, and second rate services in most of the civilian sector.

But the Reagan arms spending boom and "privatization" did create a real estate bonanza as the defense contracting industry and civiian contractors and a whole lucrative second career for military officers, appropriately referred to as "beltway bandits".

If we're going to go back to borrow and spend, which is exactly what Trump intends to do, at least let's not just borrow and waste and grow government even more, like Reagan did.

I wondered what fool would want that job myself. His best bet is to play court jester, as his boss will undermine him at every turn.

Oh how the left hates his tweets! Anyone want to take a wild guess why? It's because they can't ban him and they can't censor him. Liberals hate it when they're unable to silence their opposition.

It's the doctrine of reaching into your scant pocket for the loose change to enrich the arms industry.

Embarrassing for you maybe, not everyone thinks alike. The point I was making is social media sites routinely ban conservatives so when Trump uses a social media site it must make them mad that they can't ban him or it would look bad.

But what worked in the 1980's does not automatically work now ... also because the technical advance of the USA is not yet given as in the past ... and all sides have each a nuclear arsenal to eliminate the complete planet multiple time. So it does not matter that there some thousand more nuke war heads existing!
And the argument that the "delivery systems" could be better or the defense systems to start a race this way is lame and will not work... aside fact that the US has not the money anymore to make same thing as Reagan again!

Or watch them adopt a credible minimum deterrent and then we go bankrupt competing against no one.

This is a time-honoured, althought false belief; Reagan didn't broke the USSR: Lech Walesa and the pope of the epoch (and another polish guy) Karol Jozef Wojtyla did.

You know, I am no voting US citizen, but Trump looked sympathetic to my eye with what seemed at the time a better foreign policy than the one the american establishment, Democrats like Republicans, put into place, and that HRC represented.

At no time was I aware that I defended such a incredible stupid person. Trump will not only give in to the establishment, but he will do so in a manner that will make it even worse. This, and the reaction to Egypt's proposal in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict are both strong exemple of how badly I was fooled.

That's Boss Hogg right here. Except, we don't live in a comedy.

    Or are we?

Twitter could ban the PeOTUS, they can ban whoever they want- they have the freedom to control their servers. Do you oppose a private enterprise's freedom?
    Your assessment is lacking.

Back on point, do you believe that this tweet was good, bad? What does it mean and what impact do you think it will have on the US's standing and what does it say about the Trump admin? How does this make Trump supporters look visavis Trumps ability to lead?

They don't ban conservatives, they ban racial supremacists/ nationalists. Those aren't the same thing.

I can understand that one: Trump doesn't trust the media to make the connection between him and the people. Can't say he wrong.

Don't feel too bad, a good portion of americans voted for him and rooted for him.

I have been cautiously optimistic/ opened minded about the Trump admin. But as time goes on its pretty obvious to all that he doesn't intent to do anything but use the office to stroke his ego regardless of the consequences. The worst part is that his most ardent supporters should be his most avid critics but no! They will undoubtedly double down on him.

Still not to late to turn the ship, but look at that ice burg!

Fair enough, but in that case get a Facebook and flesh out the Tweets. When people of his station are so vague people freak out and make rash decisions. From this derpy post one could opine any damaging thing about Trump and be justified.

What was the post that got you banned? You were banned from Reddit!? I didn't even think it was possible!

I would love to see Russia descend into deap hell of bankruptcy and then dusintergrate into 9 or 10 indeoendt countries. This can only happen if LICE Trump get's over his personal love affair with Putin and works with NATO and what us left of EU to keep turning the screws of sanctions against the barbarians of Moskoviy. Russia needs Western money from the sale of oil and gas in order to fund military expansion so that move is essential.

Remember people that in Saint Reagan's days part of the job of disintegrating the USSR was already in play. TheUSSR was only 52.45 % Russian (ethnic ) so the cracks were a,ready in place. The Russian Federation is at least 80 to 85 % Russian so we are dealing with a much more homogenized enemy.

To achieve the destruction of Russia will take a tremendous sacrifice on our part and I know that our American people are not motivated to do that.

I also do not believe LICD Trump means what he says because I fear that this is just as honest of a statement from him as in building the wall and 10,000' naked dancing cheering Muslim women he claims he saw on 9 11 in NJ.

All you have to do is post a pro-Trump sentiment on reddit and they'll shadow ban you and you don't even know it.

It seems that almost half the country is either willing to bet the future of the planet on that, or they want a nuclear war.

Gotta love it. The first defense for anything Trump says is that he didn't mean it. Even now, his staff is trying to reverse what he clearly said. It is all one big game of smoke and mirrors.

We'll be lucky if he doesn't motivate China or Russia to launch a first strike before Trump builds another 10,000 warheads.

I guess you missed the part where he undermined his own spokesman on his first day on the job.

    Went right over your head!
