I have been condemning Boko Haram for a decade and ISIS since 2011... in tens of thousands of words.

There is NO reason for the US to "support Sharia law".. US law has jurisdiction here.. No other country's law.. Which of course the idiot birthers never could comprehend.

"I just wanted to congratulate you because I am hearing of the unbelievable job on the drug problem," Trump said. "Many countries have the problem, we have a problem but what a great job you are doing."

Both leaders ended the call, and later the White House stated Trump enjoyed the conversation and extended to Duterte an invite to join him in Washington.

That invite was casual: "Come see me before November, you are invited anytime."

The transcript obtained by the Washington Post shows Trump then leaped from small talk to candidly hailing Duterte’s extrajudicial killings as a success.

"I just wanted to call and tell you that," Trump said.

The alarming compliment was glossed over in a White House readout of the phone call, which merely said the two world leaders discussed Duterte’s fight to rid the Philippines of drugs.

Conveniently leaving out the part where Trump and Duterte discuss pressuring China to help deal with North Korea... which was 80% of the phone call as well as the obvious purpose for it

and NOWHERE did trump 'hail the extrajudicial killings' or even aknowledge them

Bottom line - Trump has treated long time allies with contempt and cosseted individuals who are not popular either at home or internationally

If this is diplomacy then a bar brawl is a peaceful protest

you should read the full convo. the lib press talking points are leading you astray.

this was about pressuring China to reign in North Korea. Everything else was just 'buttering up' Duterte to that end.

popularity has nothing to do with it. Duterte has Chinas ear, China has NKs ear, and NK stands to spark off nuclear armageddon. This is how politics work in the age of nukes.

Yes absolutely, they are a crime against humanity. Virtually all dictators and some other heads of state approve of and encourage state sanctioned executions (e.g. Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Pinochet, George Bush, Barrack Obama, Donald Trump, etc.).

Yes absolutely. They were also war crimes as defined by every treaty the US government is a signatory to that describes war crimes. They were unconstitutional as well because all treaties are incorporated into the Constitution via the Supremacy clause (Article VI Paragraph 2). "I'm very good at killing people" - Barack Obama

Well, technically 'murder' is illegal killing, and what Duterte (and other tyrants) do may be 'legal'... but its definitely murder from the perspective of 'killing without the legitimate delegated authority of the people' as we in democracyland like to think of it

but its not like the US has never committed 'summary execution in the feild' during 'extrenuating circumstances' like in war...

good, glad you believe that US law is supreme in the US...However, the Phillipines is not the US, and Phillipine law is supreme there...You can condemn it, but unless you have been there, I doubt you will ever understand it.

That's right and the US president doesn't have to suck up to a toad like Duterte.

Trump has alienated our allies and his peers in government. He's toast. Kushner mistreats the staff and hides from all real work.

I think I would like the Philippines. I know I like the people.. I think Duterte is insane... but then we are stuck with Trump and he's not much better.

You fail to comprehend the mindset because you fail to see it in the right wing mindset, which is riven with manipulated-into-place over-emotionality.

This is just an admission that you're weak enough to be pushed into the arms of an abuser.

I'm not defending him, but as someone that has been around the world, you have to realize that ours is not the only way of life. Different countries have different laws, and the left is always telling us that we need to be tolerant of other nations customs...Yet will use any excuse to bash Trump.

This type of thing has been going on in the Phillipines for as long as I can remember...and now it is an issue.

As I said, it seems more like an excuse to bash Trump than anything. This has been going on for many years, Duterte even called Obama a son of a whore, yet now it has become a huge issue...

You're accusing me of lying and then mocking me??! Again, you don't have an argument to make. You seem unable to do anything but denigrate others. How am I supposed to take you seriously. The use of emoticons is basically the same as your oral statements. You got nothing chief.

If you want to debate then discuss the topic in a logical and reasoned manner. If you resort to deflection etc then expect to get called for it. Put your big boy pants on.
