Uh-oh. Double uh-oh! Now there is a second whistleblower, this one with first-hand knowledge of events.

So, what does Trump do? What he always does. He replaces one moronic decision -- asking two foreign powers to interfere in our Presidential election -- with another moronic decision. Why? To change the subject, of course. In this case, ordering the retreat of American troops in Syria, enabling the Turks to annihilate our allies, the Kurds, in northern Syria. Turkey regards the Kurds as terrorists, and Kurdish rebellions against the Turks go back two centuries.

It is important to know that it was the Kurds, along with the Syrian rebels, who did the fighting and destroyed the ISIS caliphate in Syria. The Kurds were the effective fighting force that eliminated the ISIS caliphate in Iraq. The Iraqi army contributed.

Now Trump orders the abandonment of that ally. Betrayed by Trump and forced to fight a potentially bloody conflict with Turkey, the Kurdish-led forces will likely abandon any further effort to control ISIS. The U.S. troops in Syria will then be forced to withdraw entirely, which would be a major victory for Russia and open the way for Iran to entrench its forces along Israel’s northern border. U.S. allies around the world meanwhile will have reason to question whether they should cooperate with the Trump government that so casually abandons military partners.

It goes to the depravity of our military's leadership under the non-military Trump that Joint Chief Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and Defense Secretary Mark Esper were not surprised by Trump's decision.

The militarily ignorant Trump intends to replace American troops with rhetoric. “As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!),Trump tweeted.

"In my great and unmatched wisdom." One of two things are true. Trump has become a stand-up comic or he is losing his mind. In any case, he is not the least bit funny.

However, not to worry. This is a con. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Syria envoy Brett McGurk resigned from their positions in December over Trump’s call for a complete U.S. withdrawal, which Trump later reversed because of the heat he received from Republicans. The same thing is happening all over again. Even Mitch McConnell and Fox and Friends joined the chorus of abuse heaped upon our Commander-in-Chief (please don't laugh). When the Framers gave command of the military to the President they never dreamed that Americans would chose an incompetent idiot like Trump.

Trump will take this Republican abuse for a day or two, then he will change his mind and blame the decision on someone else. After all, the cowardly decision was only meant as a diversion from the impeachment drama.

I have no idea why over 60 million Americans support Trump. I wonder if they know why. They don't support him very well. Trump's detractors walk all over Trump, and his fans say very little.

50 troops that do no fighting and that Kurds never see. Of course it is Trump, not the hysterical media, that is making hay of this. LOL

another unnamed whistle blower? This time with "first hand" knowledge of a telephone call between Trump and the Ukraine president?

The only problem with this is that we already have a transcript of the phone call. We're all just as knowledgable as this other nameless soul who I doubt will ever be named. See, there aren't that many people who are going to be listening in on presidential phone calls. You have the translators, maybe the secret service guys, and that's about it.

This sounds like illogical hysteria from the media...again. If we were really serious about the Kurds, we would either kick Turkey out of NATO or withdraw from NATO ourselves. We have an alliance with Turkey, not with the Kurds.

The Washington Post link was one of the dumbest things I've read...since the last Washington Post link.

It will come back to haunt Trump. Republicans in Congress are screaming like hell. Even Mitch got in the act and he never says anything to criticize Trump. The state department and the Pentagon are being heavily critical.

At some point, soon, Trump will back down and he will have to find some excuse for the dumba$$ decision then find someone to blame. His reversal will be pure political B.S.

Only for so long can you replace one bad decision with another bad decision. Pretty soon, even his supporters will catch on.

Great, now tell me what the Post got wrong, although the writing in the OP was mine, not the Post.

Now go ahead and tell me what the Post got wrong. Put your money where mouth is. I'm guessing you can't.

    am I wrong?

Based on all of your "guessing" during the Russian collusion hysteria, you don't have a great track record at guessing. So just a couple of bullet points.

-If withdrawing 50 Americans from Northern Syria can bring about the collapse of the SDF, the are not a formidable military force.
-We are allies with Turkey, not the Kurds. If the editorial board doesn't understand that, it's no wonder they let an intelligence asset from Qatar masquerade as a journalist for so long; they're idiots.
-The editoral board thinks that we were in Syria to totally eliminate ISIS. We were not, it was to eliminate the Islamic Caliphate which we accomplished. We can no more eliminate ISIS than we can eliminate Al-Qaeda or the Taliban. Both of those two later groups are still around and still kicking.
-Not sure why the ED is offended by Trump promising economic action against Turkey, but wants to put US troops in a position to get in a military conflict with Turkey.

We don't have any treaties with the Kurds. I think they are probably the better group to be allied with than Turkey, but that's not where NATO is right now. As long as we're in NATO it's absurd to try to get in the line of fire with a NATO ally.

So yes the opinion piece was grade a level garbage, and a particularly stupid version at that. Naturally you ate it up, unless you are here to announce your support of the US withdrawing from NATO and crafting an alliance with the Kurds.

You completely avoided the retreat ordered by Trump, and its dangerous implications. You must be losing it. Supporting Trump will do that.

Sandy, you should know better than to use the WaPo as a source for another of your anti Trump screeds. If you really want to make a statement, attend the Trump rally in Minneapolis on the 10th.
The alt lefties quacking on this topic is laughable.

You want me to waste my time on this gibberish, most of which you just made up. Review the OP. What did I get wrong?

ED had nothing to do with my report. I wrote it, not ED. I hate editors. They screw everything up. That's why I like PF, no editors.

There may be much more to it than that one phone call. I am sure that our congressional oversight committees will get to the bottom of this idiotic, Laurel and Hardy scheme cooked up by Trump and his idiot flunky Rudy.

BTW, sorry about Brew Crew. That was a tough loss but they played their asses off the 2nd half of the season even after they lost their best hitter.

Unlike Obama who bombed seven Muslim countries, issued record number of drone strikes, and toppled the leader of Libya, Trump has been the most anti-war President that we have had in a long time.

This is just another baseless attack on the President. The President does not make that decidion alone. If it's announced, its with delibrate intension and consultation from the Pentagon

We are allies with both! That's why we don't fight Turkey. We just have a small military force that stands in the way so they don't attack each other

It is obvious that the complexities of our relations in the area may be too much for some to understand. Especially for Trump. This is why he should never have become President. But how does one explain this simple fact to voters who receive their "information" from Breitbart, Fox and Alex Jones?

Which the Kurds accomoplished with our help. Yet another Obama accomplishment that Trump throws out the window.

It already has and it just further sank our credibility as a country. Trump turned us into the country that shirks it's resposibity.
