Clashes between state militias and Army in New York. Navy Destroyers await orders on the Jersey shores to start shooting. F-16 flying over Chicago!!!

Yep! Trump says he will force governors to open churches this weekend!!!

The dictator wannabe decided that that's how he would regain the votes of churchgoers which, according to polls, he has been steadily loosing.

Now, of course, constitutionally he has no authority to do any of the above. Or rather, he has the power to command the armed forces, but that would be abuse of power. And the Senate would never allow Trump to abuse his power... would they?

Or would they? Dershowitz says he can. The Republican Senate agreed. So, why wouldn't he?

Of course he wouldn't recover a single vote from any religious folk. But it might make a great Bruce Willis movie.

What a joke we have for President!

Considering there are only a handful of states where houses of worship are still closed or severely restricted. There are 40+ states that allow for houses of worship to operate.

so once again trump picks a culture fight under the guise of partisanship that few states actually are dealing with.

For all the eternal victims in Trumpland, its a serious spiritual outrage of tyrannical godless proportions. For trump its just another angle to rile up the rubes.

It about time to make use of those M1A2 tanks to counter any of those ATF armored cars that some of the Democrat Socialist Marxist governors might try using to block people wishing to enter their Church, Synagogue, Mosque, Temple, or Shrine. to exercise their 1st Amendment right to religious ceremony.

I don't think he will be able to send in the military either, but won't stop him from making such threats

    Totally.

    Trump is beyond IMBECILIC.

The thing is, even if Trump did "force" the issue, he wouldn't gain one vote.

The Evangelicals are already with him (b/c of The Court).

Not being religious, I claim no great knowledge of religion.

Some denominations refer to their building as being where their church meets. For example, the sign on the building says "The Church of God Meets Here". It is not a matter of whether they meet in a church building. The building has no particular significance. However, they believe they should meet together on a regular basis. That could be in a home or any other convenient building.

The issue is whether they should be allowed to meet together as their religion requires.

Of course their religion “requires” it...how else is the church going to fleece its people of their money unless the church is allowed to let the sheep in.

What confuses you about the 1st amendment?
Is it not spelled out clearly enough for you?

How dare he stand up for the Constitution. Governors acting like dictators should be stopped.

Oddly antifa isn't out figuring against their governors, almost like their name is a lie.

Most churches in the US are small and the donations barely pay for the preacher or the upkeep on the building. In many, the preacher is a part time. In our nearest community, they have an alliance of churches who do most of the charity work in the community. We contribute regularly to this alliance.

What leads you to believe I’m confused about the 1st Amendment?

    This.

Anyway, these are people who clearly can’t think for themselves and need to be instructed on how to live their life which is why going to church is now deemed ‘essential’.

Nobody gives a **** what you, or any jack booted authoritarian governor thinks is essential, or not.

The constitution is the law of the land.

You’re very confused. As you can see, I never said churches shouldn’t be open. Try reading what people ACTUALLY post instead of what you THINK they are posting. Carry on.

Pretty ignorant comment you got there. People go to church for a myriad of reasons. People use church to better themselves and to fight things like alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling problems, marital problems, recidivism etc. people that go to church are dirtbags like everyone else, the only difference is church goers know they are dirtbags and are trying to change.

Those are the sane rational churches that actually care about the health and safety of their congregations.

Not unless you consider yourself perfect and require no improvement in your personal life. They go to church because they know they can use improvement. Not necessarily in just religion, but for example, how to be tolerant of other people without condemning them for their view.
