What if this happened to Barack Obama? (Instead of 92% positive!)

    https://www.lifezette.com/2018/10/trump-faced-92-percent-negative-media-coverage-mrc-study-shows/

This data should scare the pants off every red-blooded American. No matter which side you're on, this manipulation of the news is no less dangerous than national media.

Question for the Trump haters... where's the outrage? You accept it because they tell you what you want to hear???

    Disgusting.

No hatred for the President. However, his opprobrious rhetoric is over the top. As much as I want him to succeed, he needs to tone down the noisome diatribes. Actions speak louder than words...

I respectfully disagree. He is employing the tit for tat, something the R's are so afraid of. He is showing how they too can fight back.

I see Fox is bragging that his popularity has soared to still be the lowest ever at only 42% approval.

    Umm...

Maybe that's why this is posted on the opinion forum? (Although, Harvard had a similar result.)

Sadly USA has less Freedom of Press then USSR in 1970s.

Hopefully Free Speech online can be saved.

Hopefully, President Trump will be able to sue Social Media Giants over their monopoly.

With Judge Kavanaugh on Supreme Court, Social Media may be required to remain neutral.

Apart from the fact that the gentlemen of righties and Trumponians as so often times again suffer from Alzeheimer and dementia and hide the almost daily Shitstorm against Obama at that time ...

WHAT IF this 92% is because Trump actually builds crap incredibly often and is entitled to criticism?

Quibble over percentages or sources, whatever, it doesn't take a study for anyone to see that coverage of the Trump Administration in MSM is as overwhelmingly negative as coverage of the Obama Administration was overwhelmingly positive. That there is any equivalence between MSM coverage of the two administrations is an easily exposed lie. Backwater conservative sources are not "mainstream media," any more than large corporate, partisan-statist media is "journalism" today. Freedom of the press today CREATES a propaganda press that serves government at the people's expense.

The important question becomes whether such slanted coverage in either direction deserves special Constitutional protections given the press? IMO, in the net age, most of the public policy reasons for special protections of the press have utterly evaporated, and the same civil law standards of conduct that apply to all businesses should apply to media that engages in partisanship as well.

The first step is a jurisprudential reworking of NYT v Sullivan. The second step is a realignment as "freedom of the press" and all related jurisprudence as what it was always intended to be before the LW gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex excesses of the late 20th century to date, freedom of the press as against GOVERNMENT, not protection of its propagandistic nature as against the people. Owning a printing press should not provide civil liability protections against individual citizens, public figures or not, wronged in defamatory ways. That it does is a miscarriage of justice in favor of the very forces true freedom of the press is designed to thwart.

The "actual malice" standard should be replaced with a mild presumption in favor of news organizations who are rationally scrutinized as such and not propaganda outlets of ANY ideology, party or government. Outlets who fail this test do not deserve any presumption, even mild.

The real question is whether these obviously biased "news" agencies can survive. There's only so much credibility that they had to begin with. They came into being with cable TV, but the internet has made them irrelevant. The only people who watch that stuff, be it fox or msnbc or cnn are past their DOE. Nobody wants to watch talking heads blather away for five minutes, and then deal with five minutes of advertisements for home loans and geritol. Hell, I tried watching CNN a few days ago and it was just one commercial after another. After five in a row, I gave up.

Press only reports what Trump says.

If he acts differently then he would get different news.

The Press is just like illegal Immigration, MS 13, trade deals or Iran nuclear agreement.

    Fabricated bogeymen ..............

It gives Trump something to rally his base about.

Keep drinking the Koolaid while Trump raises your Taxes thru tariffs. LOL !!!!!

It's overwhelmingly left wing in number of channels and coverage, but it is overwhelming right wing in number of people listening.

There are 4 anti Trump channels for every one pro.
But pro Trump channels have 4 x times the viewers of all anti Trump channels combined.

The reporting is overwhelmingly negative and the negative reporting is overwhelmingly being ignored.

    Wow ...

I am really surprised! It's not so long ago that the topic of freedom of the press and Freedom of Speech concerning my country - Germany - came up and I have just moved from the camp of the American lawyers and Trumponians "Prügel", because my country is exactly the same with the media that does what you propose now ... and that's why we operate in Germany censorship of the press, etc.!

    P.S.
However, the degree of censorship is quickly exceeded and if it's just that Trump regularly beating in the media ... then that's the wrong approach!

Apart from the fact that the right-wing apparently has dementia and has forgotten the daily shitstorm against Obama, there is no house and court press for her majesty in the White House!

I will better say this joke is more fitting...

God asks Bush Jr. "And my son, what do you believe in?"
Bush replies, "I believe in a strong America, the nation, and free trade."
God says, "Good my son, come to my right."

God asks Obama, "And what do you believe in my son?"
Obama replies: "I believe in democracy, the fight against poverty and in world peace."
God says, "Nice son, come to my left."

God asks Trump: "And what do you believe in my son?"
Trump replies: "I believe you're outrageously sitting on my chair!"

And this image is also the truth...
