When Trump first took office he was touting GDP growth of 4, 5, or even 6%.
To rationalize the tax cuts he pointed to how they would push GDP up and Ryan said they would pay for themselves.
Of course the CBO estimates numbers didn't support this but the rhetoric carried on anyway.
Now it would appear the chicks are coming home to roost with a GDP estimate for the first quarter now under 2%.

Just to be clear, it hasn't fallen below 3% yet, this is just a liberal hit piece hoping it will.

They say so in your article.

Hopefully, one day, it will fall below 3% so you can call Trump a liar.

Why not wait until it does?

Trump was going to pay off the national debt in his first four years and he had a plan to do it.

    How's that working out?

A new poll shows a change in President Trump's favorability — and it's linked to the economy.

A new CNN poll may show a link between how Americans perceive the economy, and a small boost in the favorability ratings for President Donald Trump.

The poll says that 71 percent of Americans surveyed believe the economy is in good shape — the highest such percentage since 2001.

Slightly more than half of Americans believe the president is doing a good job with the economy (51 percent), and that has led to his favorability rating inching up to 42 percent.

The poll also has the president's disapproval rating dropping to the lowest level in CNN polling since he entered the office: 52 percent.

    How do you like it?

Sorry, It is Trumps boys making the claim and it is below 3% - 2.9 to be exact.
This guy is a pretty good spinner without saying anything but he says this is probably correct.

Well, I guess my first response would be 42% :roflol:.
But after I stop laughing I would point to all the indicators. The tax cut fix didn't last long.

No, your right I'm not laughing.
Trump is in the midst of screwing up the economy.
That's what this thread is about.

No. You’re not laughing because of 71% and you do not understand how’s CNN poll may get so badly skewed. Admit it.

We'd be well above 3% if trump could slap some more tariffs on imports!

To date the tariffs have produced the opposite.
    Imports are up.
    Exports are down.
    GDP is down.

If Trump could cut government like he wants to, we’d see mega growth.

“I believe it’s time to establish a national goal of reaching 4 percent economic growth. And my great economists don’t want me to say this, but I think we can do better than that,” -Donald Trump. Quoted from the article...how is that a promise? Sounds like a goal. Why do libs lie? and why do they hate a goal like that?

How did you accidentally misspell "risen above" as "fallen below"? Annual GDP growth rates haven't RISEN ABOVE 3% yet.

Having a goal? He just spit out numbers he couldn't realistically hit and them made major decisions betting on those numbers actually becoming reality. Wishful thinking is NOT an economic strategy. I can't believe I'm actually having to explain this.

He made major decisions to try and reach that goal...and has made great strides in getting there, the economy has improved because of those decisions. In fact, as the article highlights, the prediction of getting down to 2 percent, would only happen if the tax cuts expire.

He hasn't "made great strides." Every single economic indicator he tries to take credit for was already on a positive trend before he took office. He's riding the same trend line that Obama did. He's the rooster taking credit for the sunrise, and he didn't even start crowing until mid-morning.
