BMW produces about as many BMWs in the U.S. as we buy (not all of the same cars, though, we buy some models that are made elsewhere, and export others). Trump is proving himself to be an idiot on this issue. Also, people who buy BMWs aren't going to start buying Fords and Chevy's or even Cadillacs.

 

Exactly. BMW made around 411,000 X3s and X5s in the US (SC) last year. They sold about 313,000 BMWs in the U.S. last year. That means the U.S. is a net exporter fo BMWs (by almost 100k a year).

Then you're not the target audience for a BMW. They sell to people that can and want to drive well. (I admit, I'm not a BMW person either). That said, Trump is foolish on this subject. BMW makes more BMW SUVs than we buy all types of BMWs. The U.S. is a net exporter of BMWs.
