Well, maybe I can get this comment in before the thread is closed.

Trump seriously over estimates the emotional state of the right. Most right wingers have jobs to get to and cant just go around protesting and rioting if he's impeached. Plus, they have Pence to fall back on, which isn't a bad trade off. It will be some major whiplash to watch the left go from attacking Trump's liberal lifestyle to see them attacking Pence for his ultra conservative lifestyle.

Predictions of what will happen if something impossible happens are not worth much. The House could impeach but it dies right there just like it did with Clinton.

I agree. I think there will be a lot of talk, but nothing will happen. Besides, the Senate won't go for it.

A party of screaming at the sky when Pence enters the office?

Impeaching trump is a losing proposition for the Democrats.

Which will not happen before January 20, 2021.
    Unless he dies, of course.

You never know. The Senate didnt want to remove Nixon either until the evidence was produced. Afterwards, he was obviously impeached.

    Mighty thin straw you're grasping.
Remember that the senate didn't remove Clinton for federal perjury or obstruction, committed while he was in office.

I think he means that if you post a topic with a link, you are supposed to also post a personal opinion along with it. Not a biggie for me. But I'm not a Moderator.

Agreed. But I mean, really. the man lied about getting a blow job. Big deal. That being said, I am still pissed at him about it because while I dont care that he got a BJ in the oval office, I DO care that he spent tax payer money defending that load of BS.

But I cannot draw an equivalency between Clinton and Trump in terms of potential damage.

.... under oath in a federal proceeding, and committed a federal felony. While in office.

Whatever Trump will eventually be accused of - evidence or not - happened before he was elected.

How far back before taking office should we look at people for impeachable offenses?

    As far back as needed.

For example. Lets say Trump raped a woman 2 years before his campaign even started.

Should he face criminal charges for that rape, if it were proved to be factual? Or does the fact that he is president make him immune?

My thought would be, he can be held liable for as long as that statute of limitations holds.

Impeach him for what? He has to commit a severe criminal act or impeachable offense to be impeached. Otherwise you're just barking up an empty tree, and making fools of yourselves. As they say, that dog won't hunt. Either way, will I revolt if the left wing Congress sates its mania and abuses its power with a vote to impeach President Trump, just because it can? No. I will shake my head at them. Trump will remain President unless of course he has committed some type of high crime or treason, which from all knowledge and evidence exists nowhere but in the fevered imaginations of leftists.

Based on matters as they currently stand, there are no grounds for impeachment, but there may be grounds for an indictment the moment Trump is no longer Potus, which hopefully for our nation will be 2020, even if it means we just get a different Republican in office.

    "As needed". Telling.

So, you would have been OK with, say, Obama being impeached and removed for possession of marijuana.
