Because people dying in forest fires is bad. It seems I shouldn't need to point that out...

Why do I need to point out the self-evidently obvious to people on the right so often? Oh never mind, I remember, because they elected an imbecilic, petty, and evil person to be president and cognitive dissonance leads them to lie in order to defend him.

The map has nothing to do with forests

California is a net payer to the government — meaning the Federal Government profits by them being a state. MS, AL, ... — those blood red states, those are the leaches y’all while about so often. We could cut those states off the continental nation and the country, overall, would benifit.

No reasonable person could extract that from my post. I live in one of the fire areas. I have had to evacuate during one of the many fires we have here. I also know what it is like to be without power for several days after an earthquake. I am not responsible for the fires or the earthquakes, but I am responsible for the safety of my wife and kids. In addition to insurance, I have emergency supplies.

Please tell me why that is unreasonable.
Can you also tell me what assistance the victims of our recent fires are not currently receiving?

    Hey, you're right!

Yep, we sure need California. We haven't even considered the costs of the nations insurance going up because of the numerous illegals who go to hospital without insurance. We haven't considered how much everyone's house insurance goes up so Californians can keep rebuilding where fires and mudslides consistently destroy homes. Those are just two costs to the nation. Oh, I'm sure there are more. California is an anchor to the nation, as much as any other state.

My comment had nothing to do with forests. lol

This article probably makes your point much clearer. It breaks down all states and shows you which ones are givers and takers and is based on 2016 data. What is interesting, if the data is accurate, is only 13 states were net payers. The rest relied on handouts from the 13.

They sow the highest federal tax revenue of any state in the country.

Do they get to stop paying if trump cuts off federal funds? On a related note, the white house can't pay its water bill. Does D.C. get to shut off their water?

So you were either calling me an idiot or mocking trump.... I wonder. You seem like the type that doesn’t really have an argument so you result to childish insults so I’ll go with that.

I am not sure I'm for FEMA or not, but I do know that when a natural disaster does strike and FEMA provides resources to get the area back to as normal as possible, it happens in a few years instead of decades.
But, there are areas prone to natural disasters, over and over, and FEMA shouldn't continuously support those who rebuild in a prone natural disaster area.
That should fall on the home owners.

If you have insurance, you shouldn't need the government to bail you out, so I don't understand your post. I do sympathize with you regarding rate increases though ---- I live in Florida, in a coastal county, and my rates skyrocketed also.

As sorry as i feel for the CA homeowners who got burned out, I blame my state mostly. First if they truly believed their bull crap about climate change, they had plenty of time to solve the forest problems. If they think man causes droughts, they had time to clear up the forest so if it caught fire, the burning would hardly get noticed.

CA does not want to help those people. We have a lot of private donors kicking up money and also going to the burned out areas to help those people "none came from the State.

To put all of this on Trumps wagon kind of angers me.

FEMA is not a first responder. The locals are. Then comes the county in CA and then the State.

FEMA is last to do things. That is why FEMA is so slow.

    Trump's Watch. Trump's Fault.

Trump just needs to shut up and keep the spigot running.

    Problem solved.

A stupid response in light of how a stupid president responds to those citizens that are in need. He'd rather give money to Israel, to Saudi Arabia than to help his own citizens. Just remember those who died are most likely his base.

Looking at the last voting map, they are Trump's base. Nice try though.

Damn. You are not even familiar with where the fire hit eh??

    Voting in Paradise, California
Voting in Paradise, California leans Red. 42.9% of the people in Paradise, California voted Democrat in the last presidential election. 46.5% voted Republican, and the remaining 10.6% voted Independent.

Butte county voted Republican in four of the last five Presidential elections, voting Democratic in 2008. In the last Presidential election, Butte county remained narrowly Republican, 46.5% to 42.9%

Take Katrina. Mississippi took a worse hit. R Governor Haley Barbour knew what to do and as a result of R leadership. his state recovered far faster than his sister Democrat state Louisiana did.

New Orleans was in danger of vanishing due to the dumb things done by their mayor, later put into prison, Nagin. And the slack jaw governor , also D simply did not take care of it either. Why did it come to Bush to save the public of that city? Democrats were caught with their pants off.

Explain why Republican run states fare better during hurricanes than democrat run states?

Noted that you endorsed a child in the WH for punishing citizens who are in need of help simply due to politics. He will lose votes over this from the independents come 2020.

I did not realize there were that many Democrats in that county.

But they know what CA is doing for them. But still Newsom won. Trump will win next time too.

As rugged as that county is, how can democrats survive there?

I googled how much Sacramento will send to Butte country for the fire and all i got was private parties donating their money. Yes I am afraid Democrats will understand Democrats do not want to help them. CA has a massive surplus. But won't vote money to help the victims.
