I don't think we need such a budget to fight just terrorism.
No need for these navies. No need for these nukes.
Little if any need for an army or an air force.

    Just policeman.
No need for any international mutual defence pact against ISIS or the IRA. What can the mighty American military do to stop a car driver running amok in London?
    Nothing.

There are days when I look at the Trump administration and think, "This is even worse than I thought it would be."

There are other days when I look and think, "This is much, much worse than I thought it would be."

Well, I guess closer to summer we'll become 'alien invaders from Pluto-that-is-no-longer-a-planet'. Our country would almost fit on it's surface.

He found out like obama that when it comes to perpetual war for perpetual peace he does not get to call the shots. Entrenched treasonous powers do. Gave an offer he cannot refuse. Oh, he will be given leeway on some domestic issues, but not on foreign policy. Ike warned us, JFK warned us, to no avail. Only this offer given to him could have had the power to reverse positions he has held for decades.

He will fall into line as they all do. We have not seen such a sudden reversal since Perot, when threats to his daughter scared a billionaire so much, he withdrew from the race. And he was just running against free trade. And fiscal responsibility. Back when we thought 20 trillion in debt would implode our economy.

Yeah, Hillary would have been much smoother, for she was running for the status quo instead of against it. She would have been in Syria already, running into Russians in her no fly zones. Then there are still some nations on that neocon list to be taken out. Oil producers in Africa. And then there is Russia of course who is also on that neocon list.
But not to worry. Trump reversed his deeply held positions, to come in line what Hillary would have done. So it will get better now, since he has had the law laid down to him. The perpetual war for perpetual peace oligarchy has been saved and no one is gonna change that. As Hedges says, elections cannot change this oligarchy, it is just too powerful. Trump just got the memo, apparently.

    So...you do not like Hillary.

Compared with Trump...Hillary looks spectacular. Except to the puppets.

TDS ^^ - Trump Derangement Syndrome. Trump is insisting that NATO members live up to their commitments and commit to fighting terrorism.

You have a very warped view of the US.. We aren't always right..(for sure) but we aren't the demons you paint us to be.

Syria is a problem.. The west is forced to take in millions of Syrian refugees .. never mind the refugees in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and the GCC.

That is reason enough to kill Assad. He has proved incapable of governing and a brutal tyrant to boot.

Litwin, want to know what I think and write?

That we have stood, through various - enormous - turmoils, through wars and devastations, plagues and famines, wrath of God and polts of Devil, through the barbarism and invasions, through trials and tribulations. That year after year, century after century, we have been fortold to fall, by priests and kings alike, and year after year, century after century we stand. Russians live, and our history became more than a millenia long. We didn't bulge, we didn't abandoned our land.

    We stood.
    We stand.
    And we will stand.

And knowledge of that makes you furious, like animal in cage - that can't bite anyone, but keep snarling. Your cause is lost, your efforts futile. We didn't went anywhere in past millenia - and will not go in this. You can accept this and live on - or you can burn yourself from the inside with futile hatred towards people, who did nothing to you. Who pretty much have no ill feelings towards you.

Yeah, but that is still illegal in international law. Its not our job to go around deciding who should lead other countries.

He wants to broaden his array of allies now that his friendship with Russia is not turning out the way he had hoped...
It was predictable and it would take more than a bellicose octogenarian to take out one of the world most significant military alliances.

So big gains to team NATO from the Syrian chemical bomb. Any new theories as to who dunnit?

And what is legal about Assad assassinating Hariri?

    The Assads are criminals.

If main evidence wasn't bombed we might've already had a clear answer, instead of theories.

You want to be a criminal too?

Do you even realize, that if that bombing Assad currently accused of, was not his fault and maybe wasn't even performed by pilots from that airfield Trump ordered to bombard - that would mean your president few days ago opened his personal graveyard? With six. Dead. People. On it.

Think he bothered to look at their photos, posted on the internet? Or smearing them in faceless ideological mass, as it happened to victims - 101 dead, over 557 injured - of gas attack in Khan Shaykhun?

Think he thinks of himself responsible? Think he may regret that people died because of order he gave? Think this will haunt him?

For a momental pause - I do not believe, that people died before because of decidions that Trump was making. Not so directly, at least. It must horrify a man to know, that for whatever was reason - he now bears responsibility for six lives torn from existence, forever.

He would not have acted without overwhelming evidence despite what Putin and Lavrov may say ?? Notice that they have not denied that Assad ordered the chemical attack as he did many others.

Because his innocence is not proven either - just as his guilt.
