I like that because it means Nancy Pelosi would become President on Jan 21 of 2017. It's in the Constitution when the President's term expires the next successor is the veep, and then the Speaker. The President is elected for a 4 year term and there is no provision in the Constitution for extending it. Not for any reason or under any circumstance.

My thoughts are we need to have poll taxes and literacy tests. It would also be wise to repeal women's suffrage for national elections.

The danger is that Dirty Donny might lose. That's what you're really afraid of. And you are willing to sacrifice democracy to ensure he stays in power. That's pretty extreme, even for Trump supporter.

The coronovirus did not trigger these Democrat ideas. They have been part of the agenda for years as part of the Democrat objective to pursue any tiny opening or loop hole that would allow more non-citizens to vote Democrat.

Democrats are just a little confused as to who the real racists are. The ones claiming minorities aren’t capable of obtaining ID or those who think most people are perfectly capable of obtaining ID regardless of their color. Funny how that works;)

    President In Name Only..

I stole that from Jimmy Kimmel (who probably stole that from somebody else, since he's in show biz)

    https://www.huffpost.com/entry/jimmy-kimmel-donald-trump-pino-nickname_n_5e7c8ea3c5b6256a7a2569a6

Actually, now that I re-read the article, I don't see that PINO is spelled out verbatim, so I was just assuming he meant President.... you can fill in any P word you like, I suppose.... I know a P word Trump likes to grab..

But I'm now trying to use it full time to replace POTUS, at least until the next election. Then we'll see if it can be retired...

No proof offered here natch, but thanks for that unique slant.... It's only the 10th** time on this thread somebody brought up "ideas" that they cannot prove were in the bill....

No, the CV didn't trigger these ideas, but in the context of all the cancelled primaries this spring, having a "plan" (for Trump conservatives, this is the concept of thinking past tomorrow) for expanded voting options in the fall isn't a bad idea with 7 months to go...

Or you can be McConnell and McCarthy, who really don't want to have to think or vote on anything (other than judges) again so soon...

    ** - I didn't count... this is a guess...

All the liberals saying trump is right for once must cut so deep!

Voting should be easy for everyone.

Voting should be restricted to tax payers in my opinion though. If you dont file taxes you dont get a vote.

The constitution does not specify the wheres and whens of elections - legislation does,.
The constitution -does- specify the beginning and end of terms, which would not change with an electoral delay.
Thus, the government -can- cancel or delay the elections.

This depends entirely on the makeup of the house, which will be determined by the governors of the states.
    Do that math.

Poll taxes and literacy tests have nothing to do with race.

That is half-way true. The government can delay the election, but they must be held in time to begin the new term of Congress and inaugurate the president, which nullifies any cancellation.

We really need to break away and form a new nation or several nations. The left's goal is to become Cuba with more technology, entertainment, and rampant homosexuality. They have become a death cult whose goal is to destroy the history and institutions that founded this country.

Isn't it funny how they will occasionally invoke the framers and founders and "our Democracy" but in reality those "old dead white guys" would want nothing to do with them. Unfortunately most people today don't know their history and it is only getting worse.

Where does the Constitution grant federal authority over state and local elections?

    Article 2 Section 1
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,

    Exactly.

A cancellation is completely out of the question.

Although a slight postponement is theoretically possible.

    Great point.

And, Trump's Election has done nothing to reverse the trend.

Once again - Seems massively silly to me that we don't have the same rules for all states...
