    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/31/tru...riff-on-all-mexican-imports-from-june-10.html

Trump's trade wars have cost the US Stock Market ~5 Trillion in value and now he is forcing US Businesses to unwind the extremely complex and multi-layered supply chain economics, a cost to be born by the US consumer.

And now he has made the ratification of the only trade agreement from his presidency impossible. But let's talk about immigration from Mexico, the supposed trigger for removing (or stopping the increase of these tariffs): More Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico than have migrated to the United States, and arrests of Mexicans along the US southern border are at a 40 year low. So, effectively, Trump has made the condition for eliminating this Mexican tariff impossible to meet because the "problem" has already been solved.

How many Republicans will join Chuck Grassley in calling Trump's action a misuse of Presidential tariff authority?

Chuck is a typical Republican toothless tiger.... he can roar when the chips are still on his side of the table, but he cannot go all in when it counts...

Iowa should just give it up and become a Blue State..... you know they want to...

I wonder if President Dipstick realizes that stuff like this makes his "great" economy much less great?

Automakers are up next for handouts once this gets rolling. Most of their parts come from Mexico. If they're smart they'll close up shop and move assembly out of the US.

How long until the US business community will eventually wake up and start opposing Trump policies? This president is clearly not pro-business. My guess is, though, that they have been trained for so long to think GOP=good, Dem=bad, that they can't get out of their brainwashed state of mind.

Trump should be charging double. The Avocados are small and all the fruit were getting has very little flavor.

Well, this is smart of Trump. Mexicans come across the border because work is more plentiful in the US - so let's cut the work available in Mexico to decrease the number of Mexicans coming to the US to find work?

Never occurs to Trump and his FanBoys that hurting the Mexican economy is the equivalent of setting a match to the illegal immigration fire? Idiots.

I really can't find a definitive reason for why there's an influx of central American refugees seeking asylum. It may be part Mexico. There's definitively more unrest in central America. If we are not separating families and shipping the adults back never to see their children again, that may be an incentive.

Homeland Sec wants to change the rule for asylum that no one can get it if they enter the US from a country not their own. That would work for me.

Trump's a racist buffoon, but that aside, it's not the real reason for the illegal immigration.

This is the same administration which has argued, with a straight face, that importing a Fiat 500 is a national security threat.

And then consider the impact that this decision will have on America's standing in the international community. Trump literally just lifted the tariffs imposed on mexico last year, a full two weeks ago, and his trade adviser is actively trying to secure the new NAFTA agreement. And then Trump responds by imposing trade tariffs out of the blue with a plan that will rapidly increase tariffs by 25% over five months?

Why the **** would anyone trust American enough while Trump is President to make a deal on trade?

He doesn't realize that any more than he realizes just how self-destructive his tariff tyranny will ultimately prove. China won't back down and I expect Mexico won't, either. As our economy continues to suffer for it, Trump will only see is goofy base shrink even further.

I'm sure he'll still claim the 2020 election is rigged, though. He can't possibly lose on his own merits

Of course that would mean torching $400 billion a year in income from trade with Mexico and the 1 million jobs for Americans that work with Mexican companies ... but hell, as long as Trump FanBoys get their wall, nothing else matters.

WTF- nothing matters but brand Trump.

    No it doesn't.

We don't have to allow another country to rape us to trade with them.

McConnell got his tax cuts and citizens united will never be overturned …. and the Supreme Court will not halt republican efforts to curtail minority votes. And McConnell will continue to be paid by Russia and his father in law who really don't want free trade but rather just money.

You said, and I quote, "...we should build the wall first then TORCH their economy." How do you torch an economy and then still expect trade? They would have no money to buy anything ... except maybe boats to go around your dumb-assed wall.

    Raping?

Outside of what Trump is doing to the USA, I don't really see how that word applies here.

Yeah? What do you call nearly 10% of our population being non-citizens?

What do you call the number of deaths from drugs flowing in?

What do you call being required to pay for the food, housing and medical care of every person who crossed the border?

What do you call the 100+ billion we spend every year on illegal aliens?

What do you call the vast number of places in the US being overwhelmed with illegal aliens?

We've got ****ing medieval diseases popping up in LA for ****'s sake.
