No I didn't forget Canada and the UK. I mentioned them in the very post you just quoted. WWII was a different matter, unless you can cite me some treaties the US had that obligated them to fight someone else war at that time.

The real travesty is your blindness, your ignorance to see that Europe is not doing its fair share.

Germany promises to increase its defense budget to 2% "by 2024."

Thanks for nothing, you lousy socialist leeches.

Who cares? What's 0.04% of the German economy gonna accomplish?

Trump is really stupid, but he's not stupid enough to throw NATO away over this mandate.

What does he mean by fair. He usually makes out that it is smart to be unfair, such as tax avoidance yet still consuming infrastructure which taxes pay for.

The reason why Germany pays less is like Japan they were forbidden to rearm at the end of WWll.

Socialist leeches indeed. If there are any leeches about it is the Global Capitalist Economy which is destroying the Earth's resources at an ever increasing rate to create money which only has one use which is creating purchasing power for the rich. Chief Sitting Bull said that the white man knows how to make everything but does not know to distribute it. In the next couple of decades we will have to learn stewardship of the Earth's resources , find out how to distribute sustainable wealth to all mankind thus abandoning trickle down leading to a Soylent Green type scenario.

Who is listening to the BS of an idiot, who is only a gossip and the evidence in person that the US is beginning to deceive its partners and allies under him!

The status of a trustworthy nation and a trustworthy partner, the US has now completely lost! If you are leaving on the US as a friend, you have been left in the end = that is the teaching of America First for the rest of the world!

Why? Truth as told be him is sometimes uncomfortable, eh? Trump was the worst that can happen, but because the Trump follower cheer this BS still and see nothing bad, it shows how sick the situation is in reality!

Well, if they are but "trivial" then the folks who agreed to pay it, should, and if they refuse to even contribute "trivial" amounts to their own self-defense, why should we contribute our money goods and the blood of our young to what they value so little?
Such hyperbole. They will pay up, but, not if we eagerly keep picking up the bill for them. Just leave the bill on the table, and give them more time to consider. You are so eager to pledge the flesh and blood of our young for nothing, and I bet you are also the first one to race to the front of the anti-war movement that forms as soon as the fighting starts!

France is a member of NATO according to every website on the internet. Please don't post on political matters.

Yes I agree, while you were posting this silly-pic in the wrong thread I was watching him give a speech at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

Up yours, where the sun don't shine. Texan and a Republican, that is a double whammy. Real life is not trashing the planet and spoon feeding the US to excess.

Trump's election only proves that less than half of the people who voted are blithering idiots.

During the campaign Trump was too stupid to understand that the 2% is not money the countries actually pay to NATO. Of course it is not actually clear whether or not he and his supporters even understand that now!

Huh? Everyone knows that it's 2% of GDP. The free ride is over. Time to cough it up so we can get on with things. Or you can try to navigate the haunted forest alone.

No, the point is that they don't pay the money to NATO, which is what Trumps wording often suggested.

And what your wording suggests, too.

This should clearly demonstrate that not everyone knows that the 2% doesn't go to NATO. Our President is so clueless.

TRUMP: "I will tell you, a big difference over the last year, money is actually starting to pour into NATO from countries that would not have been doing what they're doing now had I not been elected, I can tell you that. Money is starting to pour in." — speech to U.S. troops in Sicily on Saturday

TRUMP tweet: "Many NATO countries have agreed to step up payments considerably, as they should. Money is beginning to pour in."

THE FACTS: First, no money is pouring in and countries do not pay the U.S. Nor do they pay NATO directly, apart from administrative expenses, which are not the issue.

The issue is how much each NATO member country spends on its own defense.

Although the president is right that many NATO countries have agreed to spend more on their military budgets, that is not a result of the NATO summit this past week at which Trump pressed them to do so. The countries agreed in 2014 to stop cutting their military spending and to start increasing it "toward" 2 percent of their gross domestic product by 2024.

That goal was set during the Obama administration and is less than an ironclad commitment.

TRUMP: "But 23 of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying for their defense. This is not fair to the people and taxpayers of the United States and many of these nations owe massive amounts of money from past years, and not paying in those past years." — remarks to NATO on Thursday

THE FACTS: Members of the alliance are not in arrears in their military spending. They are not in debt to the United States, or failing to meet a current standard, and Washington is not trying to collect anything, despite the president's contention that they "owe massive amounts of money." They merely committed in 2014 to work toward the goal of 2 percent of GDP by 2024.

You mean not trashing the planet like the progressive liberal North Dakota pipeline activists did? 48 million pounds of trash and debris? They just left it. That must be cleared quickly or the run off from a melt will pollute a nearby river? Potential for real damage to the environment due to snowflake temper tantrums.

Maybe you should take your own first lines advice especially if your gonna hate on Texas. Hookem!
