Ah yes, there it is again, the hypocrisy. While forcing regime changes in Eastern Europe and condemning what Russia considers its sphere's of interests, Bolton comes out with this:

“Our goal is to make sure these foreign influences (Russia and China), are not controlling Venezuela and adversely affecting the United States and our interests in our own hemisphere,”

“So we’re talking here about wresting control away from a socialist autocracy and keeping the Monroe Doctrine alive in the Western Hemisphere to have powers outside the hemisphere not dictating what goes on here."
But wait a second Bolton, didn't Washington condemn Moscow for saying Eastern Europe is within its sphere of interest? And what about Moscow wanting to protect millions of ethnic Russians from being killed and cleansed from their historical lands in Ukraine? Didn't Washington condemn them for interfering in a sovereign nation?
What about the people in Venezuela, what do they want? A reporter from Spain said that Guaedo is the most hated man in the country. Oh well, so much for democracy and sovereignty. So tell me Bolton, what excuse is Washington planning to use this time to destroy a country?

Bolton stressed that the US has “no higher duty internationally” than to protect up to 50,000 Americans living in Venezuela from “violence and intimidation.”
In the meantime Moscow said they will protect their interests in Venezuela. Both Moscow and China are heavily invested there. I guess now that we destroyed the Middle East, we have to light up South America.

Trump cannot possibly claim to be draining the Swamp and then have a creature like Bolton on his staff. Bolton is swampthing.

Trump fell into the swamp. Bolton destroyed Trump's peace initiative with N. Korea by making more demands that what was previously agreed on. You know what though, our whole system is screwed. In order to attain and remain in office, politicians have to bow to lobbyists and special interests. Frankly I see it as the end of democracy as we know it, not only here, but in the rest of the world as well.

I think it’s hillarious that just a couple months ago the Trump administration was claiming that America respects the sovereignty of Latin American nations and now they are saying that those nations can’t even self-determine their own foreign policy.

    Yeah. Exactly.

It was pretty idiotic of the Trump administration to claim that America does now or has ever respected the sovereignty of Latin America.

Might have something to do with our government's constant meddling in their affairs and destabilizing them or imposing dictators.

Or it might have to do that they simply don't know how to run their nations.

Kind of hard to run your nation or learn how when another country swoops in ignoring your sovereignty and totally upsets everything every couple of decades.

You mean like Britain did with us?

Yep, that is hard, but those motivated will do it.

    Won't they?

What about when we did it to Vietnam and they sent us packing?

A bunch of farmers taking on the greatest superpower ever huh?

I guess the Vietnamese are better people than those in Latin America.

Britain overthrew our government every couple of decades? When did they do this?

That's not what you said that I replied to now is it?

Quit adding in commentary you didn't say to try and prop up your argument.

Those were my words in response to this post of yours:

Nowhere do you mention the overthrowing of leaders. If you had stated that I would have addressed that.

You can't add it in after the fact because I totally demolished you with a post.

Notice the wording though. Bolton doesn't want Venezuela 'controlled' by foreign powers, which is really what Washington does. Maduro is not supposed to accept investments from China and Russia to help their economy. Instead the Venezuelans are supposed to accept their fate in life and bow to our wishes, or suffer even more misery with sanctions and whatever we can throw on them. Tyranny or not?

I came across this article on the Peruvian mining city of La Rinconada. Peru is one of our friendly ‘pro-market’ countries in Latin America and it's an example what was going on in Venezuela before Chavez.

The exact same way we did every couple of decades in Venezuela.

Those were your words of what we did so you already know the answer.

I figure there are two ways to solve poverty and the over population problem. One is to give them hope and a future for their children so they'll want to educate them and have less, and the other is kill them off with wars and famine. Seems we're choosing the latter one.

It wasn't always that way though. John Kennedy formed the volunteer peace corps to help nations raise their standard of living. I think the turning point was 1963. From then on everything went downhill.

We should impose Maxine Waters as Venezuelan dictator.

They appear to love leftists and we need to get rid of her.
