I agree. Venezuela has become the shithole that Bernie Sanders aspires America to be. Why should we block their way into the land of unicorns and bliss?:roflol:

I agree that Venezuela isn't our mess, in fact the whole of Latin America isn't our mess. This also however indirectly deals with our immigration crisis as well. Many Latin American citizens are fleeing corrupt governments in their territory and coming here(and as conservatives note, old ideologies die hard.). I would rather give logistical and political support to these countries, then to watch the flood of migrants into the United States.

Guaido is not even known in Venezuela...except there are some videos's of him participating in violent marches. More important to your extremist religious crazy Government, Venezuela has arrested his supposed chief in staff on intended terrorist charges.
    http://noticias.alianzanews.com/309...chief-of-staff-of-leading-terrorist-cell.html

Clearly an insane government like the US has will not allow this.

Meanwhile while people's minds are kept busy with other things

The Christian Extremist United States believes it now has dictatorship of the world. Whatever any other country of the world may do wrong, nothing even touches the surface of the destructiveness and religious insanity of the United States.

Brought on by a Latin American identity crisis thanks to the Spanish Conquistadors and the Catholic Church.

The US has staged 4 coups or attempted coups in Venezuela in the last century.

Please list the 4 coups Britain staged in America.

“Isn’t our mess”? We deliberately caused the mess in most of these countries! Who do you think put these “corrupt governments” in power?

No it's not! The people are not as bad off as their neighboring countries, and they are supported by their government. The attack on Venezuela's electricity was to destroy the water purification plants - something that was attacked in Aleppo as well by the American coalition and which shocked Moscow at the time. China who is heavily invested in Venezuela for its road and belt initiative, has sent specialists to remedy the vulnerabilities of the electric company.

Venezuela has its oil as well as its gold mines and everything now is being sent to Russia and from there redistributed to other countries. Russia is also supplying them with whatever aid they need - medical and otherwise. Do you think Washington will sink the Russian ships? I don't think so.

If Washington would butt out, Venezuela would be well off in a few years, but of course the US won't. It's not the American way. :oldman:

Okay, it isn't the US citizens's mess. It's the mess of our pentagon. And while some people might say we elect the officials, that's only half true. We elect the politicians, who then get to make the ceremonious selection, and the Senate confirmation process is a joke. In reality, we might have 1/3rd of a say, if at that in our government.

Wrong, Chavez and Maduro destroyed Venezuela.
Not that governments before them were that great.

Be serious, Venezuela can't even self-determine domestic policy.

    @Jeannette

I wouldn't mind the Monroe Doctrine invocation
    so much as long as
:flagus: stays out of "their" Hemisphere. The Eastern Hemisphere.
    The Afro-Eurasian Hemisphere.

Britain didn't swoop in ... every couple of decades.
We left because of our internal problems.

    Snippet from The Canary:

“Sanctions kill,” De Zayas told The Independent, adding that they fall most heavily on the poorest people in society, demonstrably cause death through food and medicine shortages, lead to violations of human rights and are aimed at coercing economic change in a “sister democracy”.

Wonder how many Venezuelans the US have killed?

Of course. I believe the US thought it was well worth killing half a million children in Iraq so its a long time serial crime.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ctions-united-nations-oil-pdvsa-a8748201.html

I would imagine the US recent energy outrage on Venezuela will have resulted in the death of a large number needing special medical care including the new born...and it did not even work in causing civil war so that Venezuela could become a Syria or Yemen.

    True.

bernie wants America to be a socialist paradise

Liberals in general and socialists like bernie in particular believe they are smarter than the average person and just need centralized government power to make everything right in America

Just as the fat little rodent in venezuela thought he could fix his country

I get it. You dislike the U.S. telling anyone what to do. I do, too. However, what I am reading here tells me you prefer a world filled with the kind of life that Russia or China offers or eve Venezuela.

At some point, there must have been a desire loudly expressed by those who live there. I know, for years we did not get involved.

There you go. Bernie wants to put five chickens in every pot.
I don't know if I would agree with the "fix" descriptor because he took over an existing socialist country from Chavez.
