Wow. Why is Trump so coy about how he voted on abortion? Shouldn't the country know his views on a very hot-button issue?

Why did Trump feel the need to snap at the reporter for asking a question americans want to know?

Because if he loses, he faces being convicted in several distinct federal criminal proceedings. He’s scared and irascible.

    "Pressed a second time, "

Yeah. I am sure that is a fair characterization of the "reporter's" demeanor.

I despise Trump. But I am not about to give random American "reporters" the benefit of any doubts.

That goes double when the question is obviously meant to sabotage him.

I don't like what Trump and pals did, but, lets not pretend that Americans never asked for this crap. They did, LOUDLY, and politicians responded...they sort of have to.

Trump and crew certainly responded to loud Americans. It’s unfortunate that it was a loud minority. The majority of Americans support legal access to abortion.

The idea that a candidate plainly stating their position on a matter could be sabotage is quite telling. It’s a an acknowledgement, plain as day, that their ideas and actions are not representative of the people.

Indeed it would be great if simply representing the majority had true political power.

But that would be a fantasy America and not the real thing.

Well it seems Trump is finding that opposing the majority to keep your fringe base happy is a tenuous position to be in. A position so tenuous, that admitting to it would be considered sabotage.

One would think bringing these views to light would be appreciated and applauded. I’d say the reporter absolutely deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Because he doesn't care either way about the issue. He found an angle in the "leave it to the states" plan where he could appeal to the abortion opponents he needed to support him without having to give a definitive answer of his own. Asking him about the policy in his state blows a hole in his plan and he is clearly the kind of person who gets angry and snappy when that happens.

He needs to do more than keep them happy. He needs to keep them mobile. So long as the majority of Americans stay parked on the couch, the mobile minority wins.

Out of curiosity. Would you say you’re truncating my post to avoid points you wish to ignore? I’d thought you weren’t a fan of such behavior.

I don't think he really cares about the issue other than for its value as a campaigning tool. You have to at least pretend to support abortion bans, if you want the evangelical vote, and it seems he has managed to take care of that voting block. This may be the last election cycle where abortion is still an issue. It was moved to the States, and in another 4 yrs the States have settles the issue, and there won't be much to talk about. Florida, and other States are voting to write the ruling in their State constitutions, and once that is done, it is unlikely to ever change.

Do voters deserve to know how he voted on the amendment? Yes, and it's weird he won't say it.

I suspect his position isn’t in alignment with the majority of the country and he doesn’t want to signal what he would do with a federal ban if it ever came across his desk.

I don't think a federal ban is a possibility anymore, and neither is Roe/Wade arrangement. I read something about him maybe using the Comstock Act to ban it nationwide, but I doubt it would fly.

That feels both optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. I’ve got my fingers crossed for federal protection.

See below about Comstock Act. However, Republicans got what they wanted from the USSC, so it would be strange if they wanted to undo it only few years later

How a Zombie Law Could Ban Abortion Nationwide If Trump Is Reelected
    https://www.scientificamerican.com/...tionwide-if-trump-resurrects-this-zombie-law/
Using the Comstock Act to nationally ban abortion would defy modern public opinion and the law’s historical interpretation, experts say

When the Comstock Act was written, germ theory was still contested science, blood types and vitamins were medical mysteries, and the most common cause of death in the U.S. was tuberculosis, then known as consumption. And yet a movement has been gaining steam to use the 1873 law to ban a vital type of medical care nationwide: abortion. Experts say this strategy may well succeed if former president Donald Trump is elected to a second term in November.

He's practicing to be a dictator. Because, you know, in a dictatorship it's the DICTATOR who decides what the press can or can't talk about.

Reporters are private citizens who work for private entities and can do, say and ask whatever the hell they want. A PRESIDENT works for US! They MUST answer the questions to we the people of matters that affect us.

BTW, nobody here believes for even a microsecond that you despise Trump. From what you write there are very few posters as similar to Trump as you are.

The Press being treated as a golden cash cow is exactly why everyone on both sides despises the media.

No, they’re not better than the rest of us and they don’t deserve special access. They only should have their publications protected. That’s it.

So snapping at a reporter is a sign of being a dictator? Do you really want to go there? Really?

I don't despise the media at all. MAGAs despise the media who tell us facts about Trump. THIS is a FACT about Trump.

They're not better and they're not worse. If YOU want to ask the guy who WANTS to be President how they feel about abortion, you can go right ahead. But I believe people DESERVE an answer. I know the answer: the creep doesn't CARE. But he sees this topic, that is VERY important especially to women, as a POLITICAL football. And the press has... not the right, but the OBLIGATION to show the fact to the people. It's their job!

Announcing that you will be a dictator is sign of being a dictator. REFUSING to answer (whether by snapping or not) only CONFIRMS it!

Oh!!! One thousand percent!!! Why? Whatta you got?

The list of libs snapping is long, here's just a taste.

I'm going to assume you won't live under a dictatorship, so if Trump wins, what country are you going to move to?

    Some absolute truths about Trump.
Trump doesn't give 2 shits about women's healthcare or if they have an abortion or not.
He's a money and vote whore and as we've seen throughtout his campaign he blows with the news wind depending on his latest comments on abortion and blow-back from the Christofascists .
