Im just curious of the general reaction. I liked Trump and still have hope... but I think Trump was either goaded or tricked into doing something he didnt want to do, and any way you slice it, bombing Syria was bad for Trump, the country, the world, and just plain wrong.
Trump is going to bring on Armageddon - give a big hug and kiss to your children and tell them you love them because tomorrow they may be gone from your life forever.
Sorry, I couldn't vote in the poll. You needed to have provided one more choice: "I am generally happy with Trump, but we did not need to bomb Syria." Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think you might be surprised to see how many other people would choose that option, too.... As far as I'm concerned, this is a Syrian civil war, mixed with ISIS/ISIL terrorist factions. Today, ISIS is all but totally defeated now, in Syria and Iraq. So, where was the overpowering security threat to the U. S. that caused this big missile attack last night? Hint: we don't need any more foreign 'adventures' than we already have....
I have posed that question to several right wingers but none could come up with an answer. But it is only too clear that they love war (especially those they don't have to fight) and applaud this action because it will lead to more war. The next question is, what are you going to do with all those refugees who will try to enter our shores? Ask then that and, again, there will be no answer.
I'm a rock-solid "Right-winger" and I'll answer both questions as truthfully as I can for you: 1. There was no "overpowering security threat to the U. S. that caused this big missile attack last night". There was no justification for Trump to bypass the constraints of the War Powers Act. He should have gotten the permission of Congress first! The very same was true when Obama deliberately bypassed the War Powers Act to commit a much worse violation -- the overthrow of the legitimate government of Libya in 2011. Nobody impeached Obama for breaking the law, and it's highly unlikely that anyone will threaten Trump with that, either.... Is that truthful enough for you? 2. Next, "what are you (?) going to do with all those refugees...?" I'll tell you the same thing that I tell all the hyperliberal Left-wingers who want to throw down our borders and let anyone and everyone just wander in here anytime. We have borders. We have laws. We have procedures for people to wish to try to claim 'asylum'. We have an immigration process. Therefore, anyone entering the United States illegally needs to be apprehended and thrown out -- not hidden and protected by liberal Democrats in "sanctuary cities". Is that truthful enough for you?
it was your heroes in the Reagan and Bush regime who brought them in and tried to grant them full amnesty correction: that was a NATO led action subject to international treaty, not a unilateral action
good to know you will laughing when your children are in pine boxes freshly delivered by the Pentagon
Bad move by Trump. It seems like he was pushed by the constant accusations to prove that he's not Putin's puppet. So to everyone who wouldn't shut up about that bullshit- I hope you're happy.
trump strikes pros: frequent end of the world sex trump strikes cons: frequent dead civilians gee i dunno
I'm a conservative. I believe in war only when there is a compelling national interest which in not present in this case. Turn them refugees away. I don't care and I don't want them.
I just figured bombing anyone without a necessity to do so would fall into the 'this makes me unhappy' category. How is 'we didn't need to bomb Syria' different from 'Im unhappy that Trump bombed Syria'?
I figure he was pushed by w/e they got from his lawyers office. I like Trump- what hes been doing for the country. But I have no illusions that hes a saint. Hes a womanizing billionaire with casinos. Theres dirt on him, and now the establishment has it. But it can't be worth the casualties of the missile strike...
If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked. Remove wicked officials from the king's presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness. He who has the ear of the king holds great power. (i.e. the one the king relies on for advice and to know what's happening)
For logical reasons, I questioned whether or not the Syrian government carried out the gas attack or if it was the rebels who did it. I even started a thread about it on PF. Now that we have hit Syria, I hope we were right. On the positive side, we have shown that we will back up our words. This will be important going forward. Also, our strikes were specifically aimed at Syria's ability to produce chemical weapons. It was not aimed to alter the outcome of the civil war in that country. Although I wish I had proof of Syrian guilt for the gas attack, overall, I still think Trump is doing a good job. And I'm glad we don't have the alternative. Seth
wow lucky for syria. Maybe they should have learned the last time eh? Cross the red line again and it will be raining missiles.
So he's a big pssy being pushed around by his generals. I can believe it. Haven't you figured out YET that NOTHING trump says means anything? Pathetic.
Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump The President must get Congressional approval before attacking Syria-big mistake if he does not! 7:02 PM - Aug 30, 2013 Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval. 2:14 PM - Aug 29, 2013 Trump's doing precisely what he had viciously attacked his predecessor for doing - bombing Syria after Assad's use of chemical weapons against his people - is classic Trump. If you love Trump, you embrace such shameless, signature, flashing-neon hypocrisy. His adding the Dub's "Mission Accomplished!" to the token gesture that has no impact whatsoever on Assad's continuing slaughter of the Syrian people was truly inspired.
I am not interested in fixing blame. May as well blame Mohamed. Just so long as the refugees are turned away.
