Former Mark Meadow's executive assistant Cassie Hutchison testified today as part of the Jan 6 hearings. Video, below of the entire hearing.

She testified that there were people with glocks, AR-15s, and weapons about, and that Trump was mad that they weren't letting in everyone ( people with guns, which are what the 'mags', magnetometers--metal detectors, are for, so he wanted them taken down) because he wanted the grounds to be full and there were gaps, and Trump said those with guns weren't after him, so let them all in.

Letting people in with guns because he is worried about 'crowd size'. Are you kidding me?

That is an astonishing statement by a President. Okay, if they aren't gunning for him, then who the hell are they gunning for? Did he even consider it?

We also found out a lot of other stuff, such as the degree to which everyone wanted him to make a public statement to get everyone to leave, peacefully, which he did, finally, and reluctantly we're told, at 4:17 pm. But, he never condemned the attackers, he said 'we love you'.

Then she told about Trump's violent temper, throwing dishes against the wall on several occasions, and the occasion that when his (secret service) driver wouldn't take him to the capital, because 'no assets, we have to take you to the White House' (to protect the president" Trump reached over to the driver and tried to grab the wheel, and when he was blocked, he tried to choke him.) Has any other president in history behaved this way? I don't think so. Did Lincoln have hissy fits? I don't think so.

Also, on the "Hang Mike Pence" chants, Trump said that he deserved it for not complying which his request to delay the 1/6 joint session of Congress, which he couldn't do legally.

The dereliction by Trump is beyond the pale. What I can't figure out is why anyone is still defending him. Even if I were a republican, I wouldn't defend him ( noting that Hutchison was a loyal Trump staff, she said she really wanted everyone to know the good things he did, but what he did during the attack was 'disgusting', 'unAmerican'.

I think Meadows will be indicted with Trump, and maybe Giuliani, Eastman and Clark.

Another thing, we saw a clip of Cheney asking Flynn:
(These might be slightly paraphrased, I'm working with only my memory)

Cheney "Do you feel there is a moral justification for the violence on 1/6"

    Flynn: "the fifth"

Cheney "Do you feel there is a legal justification for the violence on 1/6?"

    Flynn: "the Fifth".

Cheney "Do you believe in the peaceful transfer of power?"

    Flynn: "The fifth".

These are yes or no answers. For a military officer, it should have been a no brainer to answer in the affirmative to these questions. His answering 'the fifth" can only be interpreted as a no, and is refusing to answer no might have been used against him in any illegal acts he might be party to so that explains his taking the 5th. Amazing, a 2 star general pleading the 5th on no brainer questions.

But, all is possible in the weird, wacky, and criminal world of Trump.

Oops, did I say 'criminal'? Must have been a Freudian slip.

What would you expect out of Flynn/ He was convicted of lying to the FBI when the FBI said they did not believe he was lying. He was coerced into pleading guilty by threatening his family.

Those were no brainer questions. There was nothing that could be construed as incriminating by answering in the affirmative on them.

Unless, of course, he believed he was guilty of something, such as promoting sedition.

If they are "no brainer" questions, there is no point in asking them. Just answering in the affirmative will not be the last question they ask on the subject. I know that. You know that and Flynn knew that.

Apparently you do not know this much:

In general, it is a no brainer question.

But, since Flynn's allegiance is in question, it's a valid question.

That doesn't change the fact that for most folks, it's a no brainer question.

ANOTHER EXPLOSIVE WITNESS! BREAKING! MUST CREDIT SCHIFF!

At the instant Trump grabbed for control of the Beast, with a Rebel Yell, he screamed THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY, the witness says this is an unforgettable moment that is seared into his mind.

Given Flynn's seditious allusions, his allegiances are in question.

    Hence the questions.

If you can't understand that, I can't help you.

Posturing, in all of it's flavors, of which mockery is one, is not an argument, nor is it a merit worthy opinion worthy of discourse.

The questions are no brainers. He had likely made up his mind to plead the Fifth before he entered the room. Based on his previous experience with the FBI, I don't blame him.

As an officer of the Army, he recommended martial law and an election do-over.

    I blame him.

Has anyone even stopped to ask themselves why this woman would sit on this information this long and suddenly come forward?

She gave some of this evidence earlier but more pointedly there was a reason this particular hearing included reading out the threats witnesses had received

(Sigh) plus she apparently just changed lawyers

Based on his lawyer's advice and his previous experience, he was going to plead the fifth to this sham investigation no matter what they asked him.

A lie requires intent. The FBI investigators who questioned him believed his misunderstood the question.

It's YOUR responsibility to hire a competent lawyer, and when you are a general, or a president, etc., you don't get to claim 'my lawyer told me'.

Any lawyer suggesting that martial law and a vote redo, given the fact that no credible evidence has ever been produced to lead to such a proposition,
    is beyond the pale incompetent.

Hell, I'm not even a lawyer and I know that much.

There is no evidence the investigation is a sham, and there is far more evidence that it is competent.

But, how would you know? You are defending Flynn, Trump, et al. all of whom are on the wrong side of history.

He is just taking good advice. As I said, the decision had already been made to plead the fifth no matter what questions were asked
They claim they are getting the facts. You do not get the facts by only looking at one side.

A general, and officer of the US Military, suggesting martial law and a vote redo, unprecedented in history, based on scant evidence.

Why would he even need a lawyer to tell him that? Even I, a layman, a Navy E4 vet, know it's preposterous. I don't even believe he got that from a lawyer, he just blurted out and hired a lawyer to keep him out of jail. That's a question most criminal lawyers, given it's political nature, would be that informed about

There is no argument that rationalizes Flynn's behavior. None.

He's worthy of a courts martial.

He did what most sensible people do. He recognized the investigation as a fraud and wanted nothing to do with them.
