    • Failure to meet thread creation guidelines
Forget that the cuts were summarily panned by noteworthy economists: it's now increasingly undeniable that they served no purpose, other than to make the rich richer, and to make the middle class poorer. One hand washes the other hand - the rich buy boats and the poor lease bread.

Despite the original Congressional Budget Office projection that the tax cut bill would increase the federal budget deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years, President Trump and his team insisted that the cuts would generate so much growth they would pay for themselves. As laughable as that was six months ago, it is even more so today.

The CBO has already increased its budget deficit projection to $1.9 trillion, and it has been my experience that when deficit projections start going up they get even worse over time.

One has to wonder how, after decades of campaigning as deficit hawks, Republican members of Congress will be able to talk about “fiscal responsibility” with straight faces.

How can Republicans support this with straight faces?

    Trump said:
    (1) He would raise taxes on the rich - he didn't
    (2) He would not benefit from his tax policy - he did
    (3) Workers' wages would increase - they didn't
    (4) Lucrative tax loopholes would be closed - they weren't
    (5) International corporations would pay more in taxes after the changes - they are paying less
    (6) The budget would perform better than CBO predictions - it performed worse

That's funny I'm middle class and I'm benefitting nicely and it shows up every two weeks.

Glad for you. Those cuts do have an expiration date though. Plus the deficit is growing. All I heard during Obama's term was the right screaming about debt. Where are those people now?

And how much more are you taking home? I realize it may be grocery money, which is no small thing, but has it really improved your life that much? And at what cost? The next thing we will hear from the right is how we have to cut safety net programs, which to the contrary of what the right says, benefits children and the elderly and the disabled the most.

Again, I am glad you are bringing home more. Put a steak on the grill for me!

Dude, you are actually making a good point here, the tax cut wasn't bad at all but it could have been better..... if instead of RESISTing the left cooperated and negotiated Trump wouldn't have had to rely on 51 Republicans only and could have worked with the dems as well on giving an even bigger slice of the tax cut to the middle class.

But the insane left, including their elected representatives chose to resist and sabotage, instead of working for the American people, Trump got the best deal he could under the circumstances and you have Pelosi and Schumer to blame that it isn't perfect.

The tax cuts were only "temporary" because the Demorats wouldn't cooperate to get a 2/3's vote.. It will be revisited when the "blue wave" gets a flushing down the tidy bowl. Book it.

More like morally and intellectually superior liberals want you to have more than crumbs, which is something you seem ready to fight to the death to prevent.

Ignoring the federal deficit that was such a problem for the Republicans the last eight years - since they have shown they give no ****s about it, we are still left with almost zero long term benifits for anyone but the super rich.

Source on the democrats blocking middle-class tax cuts from being permanent? How was that the DEMs fault? I have a feeling you are taking what the DEMs did totally out of context to fit some BS narrative. Call me cynical.

I'm not here to educate you. But:
To get the bill to qualify with Senate rules
Republicans are attempting to pass the bill, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), through the process known as budget reconciliation. The process allows Republicans to avoid a Democratic filibuster and pass the bill on a party-line vote, but it comes with strings attached.
One of the rules included in the reconciliation process is known as the Byrd rule. A provision within that rule stipulates that any bill going through reconciliation cannotadd to the federal deficit outside of 10 years.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, chair of the Senate Finance Committee and author of the bill, hasadmitted that the original version of the Senate's TCJA did not meet such a requirement. Making the individual cuts temporary could allow the bill to meet those requirements.

The Rats want to REPEAL the tax cuts, not make them permanent. Educate yourself.

LMAO. The DEMs just wanted to make sure they could revisit this pathetic redistribution of wealth to the already wealthy. Like I said, you are trying to frame an action to fit your narrative as if the DEMs wanted to stop middle-class tax cuts.

And don't pull this "I'm not here to educate you" holier than thou horse excrement, I asked you to source an assertion you made. That is a fair question in a forum you dolt. Your source didn't match your argument Einstein. Don't play three card monty with a player.

You do realize that the only thing people are seeing right now are the tax rate cuts via their paychecks?

They won't see the doubling of the standard deduction and the doubling of the child tax credit until they file their 2018 taxes.

    Do you understand now?????

I understand these tax cuts have caused stock buybacks and not job creation. I realize that wages are still stagnant. These cuts have already furthered corporate earnings and have done nothing for the poor and middle class.

Empty assertions. Got ya. That is a child's way of having a conversation. That lets you be totally unaccountable for the things you say. You sound like a Trump supporter. Go back to tweeting.
